Character Information:
Why did your character decide to become the CO of a ship?
Isaac will tell you that they applied for the promotion to further their career, to keep climbing up the ranks in order to provide marines with the structure and command they need in order to fulfill their Operations and make it out alive. In reality, they are applying for the same reason they joined up, xenobiology, life beyond the stars, and what better place to get the juiciest and freshest samples than aboard the USCM Almayer? The idea of not only keeping people safe but also satisfying they itch is not only tempting, but intoxicating
How did your character attain the position of CO?
A combination of the right words at the right time, hunger for knowledge, and a good eye for discerning talent. Their military career, whilst not perfect, shows a man that can make the best of a bad situation, using the most potent tool in the USCM, manpower. That and a bit of research´s help.
Provide a short story of your CO.
Originally from the UA, what we would now call México, Isaac Adams decided to study Xenobiology, after hearing about the rapid expansion of humanity, although his plans did not turn out as well as he wanted. Soon after finishing university, her sister, Corporal Sarah Adams was pronounced KIA whilst trying to pacify a CLF cell in some far away planet. Choosing between passion and duty, Adams chose both, deciding to join up for the USCM. Whilst first thinking of being a researcher, he thought he could get work done faster if he had boots on the ground, eventually leading to him getting the rank of Captain, and thus, applying for a promotion. Adams, having pulled themselves all the way here, respects the struggles of the lower ranks, perhaps even sympathizing, but never forgetting their rank and the burden it carries.
Command Actions:
When do you believe it’s appropriate to pardon a prisoner?
Mostly depends on the crime? A private drinking a beer they found? A chewing out is in order, but maybe not brig time. CLF on the brig? They better have a good sob story, and they are permabrigged at best. It mostly depends on RP and the crime commited.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use pardon.
I´d pardon a marine if I can tell either A) they have solid RP reasons, and even then I might ask an High Command, or B) They are obviously a new player. I believe on cutting them some slack, but I´d still get them an appropriate punishment. I am aware leniency is not the best for high ranking officers, but OOC, it helps to hear them out. IC, it mostly depends on what is done or said.
Good example for a pardon, bald OT blowing themselves up, that happens quite a bit. For not a pardon? MT breaking SMES on purpose, or a marine downing another at brief, bald or not.
When do you believe it’s appropriate to use a Battlefield Execution?
Best example, CLF boarding the ship along with Xenos, they are to be put down to prevent them getting defib´d and causing problems again. Apart from that, I´d say situations where it´s that or allow the enemy to recover them quickly, such as a retreat.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use Battlefield Execution.
I will repeat the example above as I think it sets a good baseline"CLF boarding the ship along with Xenos, they are to be put down to prevent them getting defib´d and causing problems again", I´d not execute a prisioner, or a combatant, when it is not needed, such as we took them down and we are outnumbering the opposing force, as we can defib them and get them into custody, and not get sent to the Hague.
