Just had a round where a lesser drone (banished) started unnesting caps in hive. Xenos where probably gonna lose anyways but half the hive haveing to go back to re-cap significantly accelerated the defeat.
Left me confused as to why banished xenos can still do that, and at that, do alot of other things.
Anti-grief mechanics can be heavy handed and can narrow actual valid use cases. Additionally, stuff like this is usually handled through staff anyway, and it’s (seemingly) such a rare thing that it’s such a low priority and/or it’s not something people think to add.
If it occurs often enough, fixes are usually rather swiftly added. (such as the shipside grenade protection we had due to one serial griefer)
The damage is already done though. if the entire hive has to piss off to recapture caps or if hive core is broken then it can seriously impact the round.
Pretty certain it was targeted grief cause after I died and did a little salt in dchat a player said “hope you enjoy getting bwoinked”. Could be unrelated. I didn’t have the time to banish the lesser sooner because I was mid combat.
The timeline : I left hive. Went to flank hydro. Captured two players. Then went to flank research. Then I was made aware that the lesser was Griefing nested capture. I was in the middle of fighting in research. Had to retreat. The lesser was no longer corralled behind two Xeno players keeping it from releasing more captures. Then I saw it release another, then I banished it. Walking back to the hive and Ahelping really disorientated whatever I had been planning.
Lesser could simply just not have the denesting ability.
