Biolock's first HvH event

Tell me guys, how good was this event outta 10?

For me it was alright since there were no tanks for CAS to shoot at.
Gimme clips and recordings of it.

I’ve taken a lot of feedback for future renditions. I knew the first time running it was gonna be rough, but I also know that players love HvH, so I wanted to start learning how to run it.

Please ping on announcements or something. I really miss HvH ;_;

ngl, the theme and organization of hostages was fine, just the Marines being Marines going guns blazing 1 second into the mines.

To be honest, I was very nervous to be running it, so I didn’t want to make an announcement and get people all excited for something that might not have been very much fun.

Nah, don’t ever think that way. If you do, you’re already setting yourself for failure.

I know i might be part of a silent majority, but I and many others have a lot of fun when a round is something else then HvX (and it isn’t zombies).

I loved the concept and that round was SO fun, we (Biolock) should do more hostage events. I can’t imagine it with highpop and decently fortified CLF base.

he speaks for me.

The tanks would be fun again or just APC

Then CLF SADAR can blow it up

It was decent at the very least! I wanted to try and make greenos through the magic of RNG Jesus, to unleash them on the CLF, but ended up getting myself bullet proof armor and having to save the CMO from a CLF boarder.

What Biolock can improve on is CLF, THE CLF HAD WAY TOO MANY INCEDS

But going by the info i have gotten from the post, i think a hostage situation would only be good if the marines would actually suffer in some way if a hostage dies because of their actions. And they should also be rewarded if they manage to rescue them.

Now just taking inspiration from another game that i love (Project Reality), you could do a lot os stuff in an insurgency type gamemode with CLF. Make a big map with lots of buildings, and give the CLF either a lot of bags they can hide in (like the V1 thermal tarp, not the active camuflage one) or just generally a lot of lockers.

But the one thing you have to heavily restrict would be MDs. Either completely remove them during the event, make it so ANY motion gets detected (even friendly), or just make it so you can’t buy it from a vendor, and only ASRS, because it would make guerilla fighting not worth it (Maybe make MDs a reward for freeing hostages).

But this is just my two cents when i didn’t even participate in the event.

EDIT: You also have to give the CLF a bonus for holding the hostages, like for every hostage you have (Say they start with 10) they get that many reinforcements every 15 minutes or so (I am not a numbers man), or even give them equipment depending on how many hostages they have at the 1 hour mark.

Most issues with the event are due to the nature of HvH, overall the main event was fine, and I found it fun. Mostly there were teething issues which will solve themselves over time.

HvH really needs another look over it however. Fractures should be rare, internal bleeding as well. The map should not be 100% dark, dim but not dark. NVGs should be removed alongside scopes (which scopes are normally disabled for HvH). Also as noted above remove MDs.

Again, most issues I think people will have with this event are inherent with HvH in general. The only things that should change mainly from Biolocks perspective is having groundside comms and to better emphasize that the CLF are getting infinite reinforcements so Marines actually extract the hostages instead of milling around.

Well the objective of the event was to extract the hostages, not kill the CLF. If they could extract the hostages without killing any CLF, they won. So I don’t think I need to reward them rescuing the hostages (since that’s the round objective), but I do need to make it clear that they’re not there to kill the CLF.

I was just thinking in the case the hostages were spread out over the map. example being in groups of two or three. But ultimatly yeah, if all the hostages were saved marines would just win.

Edit: You could also prgogably make some hostages NPCs that don’t move (albeit on admin discretion they could be moved if they either weren’t under supervision, or just generally not enclosed somewhere where they can’t just run away) to make playing as a hostage not mandatory. Call them being shellshocked or just in general shock of being a hostage or a reaction to what the CLF did to them.

Pretty good idea

Although I had no shortage of people who wanted to be hostages.
