Synthetic Info:

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play:

Wilco

Provide a short description of your synthetic’s backstory

Wilco was created in the TWE but later traded to Wayland-Yutani, which was then given to the USCM but shows no loyalty to the TWE. He was originally programmed to help with medical and may share in some of the idiums of the TWE, but rarely does. and also trained in the TWE, which also gives him his personality that he has.

Describe your synth’s personality without mentioning their skills or previous professions

Wilco is a very polite, reserved, and highly professional synth who speaks in a very formal way. Also, incorporates corporate phrasing. And avoids emotional language. Unless it’s necessary to mimic human emotions, Wilco tends to interpret situations in a literal or clinical manner. Wilco will sometimes offer moral support if it assesses that it would be needed to bring up morale. Wilco adheres closely to the instructions and tasks he receives.

How would your synthetic interact with enlisted personnel, officers and civilians? How could you involve your personality into these interactions?

Wilco will talk to officers or high-ranking members formally by their rank and position. Like “greetings commander,” or “acknowledged, lieutenant.” If talking to others, he has a much more refined way of speaking, for example. “The patient has been stabilized, his likelihood of survival increased from 12% to 95%. This percentage is satisfactory.”

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

I just really want to be a major support and help others, and I fully understand what comes with this role being how much power I would have and how I should use that power and experience but also for my ability to roleplay and want to play this class with respect.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

It’s been a very long time, but I remember a synth saving my life right before the ship left. I was literally just a matter of seconds away from death. And the fireman carried me to safety and saved my character’s life by also performing surgery with random tools found on site at the time. One of the greatest and coolest things I’ve ever seen in this server.

Synthetic Character Story:

Skills:

How familiar are you in CMs support roles such as medical/engineering/requisitions/command and which of them are you more and less proficient in?

I would say that I’m very familiar. I play doctor the most and is in fact my most played role my favorite parts about med is preforming surgery in stressful situations this role. also engi is something that im very familiar with I understand cade rules and where to properly put them and how to properly fix APC’s when needed I really just enjoy fixing stuff as this role. furthermore req is something I picked up very quickly and is something that I can do with fair ease and a role I very much enjoy I love helping with lines and cleaning up prep.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

Synthetics are programmed not to really be combatants, which means that they don’t react in a way that would result in death. As a synth, you should let the Marines do the killing. Unless totally necessary. But if I were helping to make cades and a runner was going around trying to attack me or take a marine, I’d probably hit it until it ran back or just got out of the way. If I’m in a situation trying to heal other marines and there’s like a spitter hitting me, then I’d probably just beat it up a little and go back to what I was doing when it goes away.

Final Info:

Have you been banned in the last month?

no

Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?

Yes, I would ike to thank hippy AKA Dad_lips on Discord for all of the help they have given me for this application. They have been extremely helpful and also a big help. Furthermore, I used a lot of my answers that were premade on Google Docs. Also, I would like to say that I’m a very quick learner and can play roles very well. Bottom line is that I would not use the synth role as a “practice” role and something that I would play with respect, and something that I want to be ready to play. More likely, I would just play my human characters until I feel that I’ve lost a lot of the rust and can play this role to the best of my abilities. Thank you

Right, I’m writing this right before bed. But here is some feedback I’ve noted down about your app.

Firstly, the name - it came to my attention that a person in council discouraged the name, personally, I don’t really care for it - but I’m curious why you stuck with it?

While synths try to talk formally, you’ve got to put yourself in a mindset of being in the game - you’ll be working, and a lot of chaotic stuff happens in rounds. So it will be a challenge to talk in such a manner.

Can you give me some more dialogue examples? -

How would your synth handle req duties? - How would they react to a marine copy pasting a long order?
How would your synth handle unlawful orders? - i.e “Synth Fix sensors solo.”
How would your synth handle dispruptive marines? - i.e casual insults, pushing, shoving, and so on.

Your combat answer is fine. It does follow the philosophy I’ve been trying to impose onto new-WL’s and even long standing WL’s, that you should only go into combat to protect yourself or others who cannot be defenended/defend themselves.

Though I am curious -

Where would your synth see it as valid to chase a xeno down and kill it?
How would your synth handle CLF/Hostile UPP?
Do you think it’s valid for a synth to bodyblock to prevent a xeno from getting into an escape pod?

So Wilco at the start of my first APP actually was an acronym for Wil- Will CO- Comply, but also I felt that really sounded like a TWE name, like one that just sounded British. And to be honest was just a name that I thought sounded cool.

Yes, my synth will talk more elegantly, but I feel that because of the front being super hectic and such, it can be difficult to convey information, which is why I feel that when talking on the front, Wilco’s self-preservation programming kicks in which, when talking to much, would most likely be him using shorter sentences and also one word answers. For example, “this may be unfortunate,” “this is dire,” are all easy yet good words and still keep the RP of the character, but Shipside is different; he may say something like. “May you please be more patient?” or “Do you require more assistance?” I guess I show more of the wordy parts, but I can assure you that won’t be the character 24-7

Well, I’m still a human playing a robot, so most likely I would request the marine to either slow down or give me a shorter answer. so that I may better assist them further.

As for the solo sensors, I would say no to this because of self-preservation. On the front self-preservation goes up even more, so expecting a synth to solo seniors could be deadly. and may put myself at risk. if so then i may ask for a small marine escort to insure my self preservation is in tacked.

So for insults, my synth would either right out ignore them or just move on to continue doing better things. I don’t have to answer them either. As a synth, If I feel the attacks are targeted then I may also report their behavior to high authority’s.

So for the first question I would say no because. My job as a synth is not to secure a kill its to make sure others are ok and that I am ok. When the threat is disengaged and i am able to save a marine there would be no reason to chase it.

When it comes to CLF/UPP I would not react in a violent manner. also when delta alert happens his ultimate goal is to disengage the enemy or pacify them. but with the priority being assisting with medical and insuring the evacuation of staff and other personnel.

As for the final answer I feel that given the chance. I think If the situation was dire and their were incapacitated or even civilians on board who can not defend themselves. I think if its the only option I have left then yes I would use my body to block them and although self-preservation is in action here. My second goal is also to insure the escape of humans and other personnel. and this action would not be intended to act as a way to kill the xeno or to fight it. but delay it. And if i felt that the action didn’t meaningfully improve human life chances then I would most likely focus on other parts of the operation instead.

Right, Votes are in, and we’re going to deny this.

Your Character:

While it’s interesting to have a TWE Synth, Bishop being the main example, Samuels(kinda). The way you’ve explained your character’s backstory and personality, it tells me very little about who they are, simply what they are.

Most synths are this. It is a given that a synth has to be polite and formal to a degree(even if it is not required of them 24/7). The question is about how a synth presents itself, but it is also a test in how you engage with your character - are you seeing the synth from purely a mechanical standpoint, or are you viewing the synth from the lens of a narrative? While yes, CM is a ever changing game, and rounds are never consistent. What I like to see with characters is two things, one a sense of knowing what they are, what I mean by this isn’t “the synth must know they are a synth” But rather, having synths know their function and role and the personality of the character reflects this. Playing a reserved character is fine, but with how you’ve presented it, you’ve given me nothing to pull from that isn’t already expected. I need more to fully understand what you’re going for with the WL.

Observations:
Mechanically, you’re going to need more time with Medic and Comtech. From what I have seen, you struggled in a lot of cases involving high-pressure situations, mass casualties, and you’re going to need to understand a bit more with APCs and their functionality.

While there isn’t really a focus with mechanics, I still take note of them with applicants so they’ll know what they’re going to have to address when they’ve got the role, a lot of it comes with time and practice.

You may reapply in 1 month - 04/14/26
