Bodyblock salt

Be me

Be 10 foot tall spike covered ravager with scythes for arms. I weigh something like 3 tons and you can empty multiple clips into me and I’ll still keep coming.

Be 180 lb 5’5 marine. Stand in front of 3 ton alien monster in a corridor. Monster slashes me 4 times but can’t get past. By some miracle this 3 ton monster doesn’t even try to push me to one side or literally just fall on me and crush me. The only movement here is isaac newton rolling in his grave.

Monster dies. I get resurrected immediately.

Be you.

Be 10 foot tall spike covered ravager with scythes for arms. You weight something like 3 tons and I can empty multiple clips into you (as long as you got down time to regenerate) and you will still keep coming.

Be 180lb 6 foot marine. Stand in front of 3 ton 10 foot tall and atleast 3 feet wide alien monster in a 8 foot tall and maybe two feet wide corridor. Monster walks into me and pushes me back with no way to do anything but shoot, I barerly slow him down, but he for some reason stops instead of walking further, or using any of his stunning abilities and tries to slash me, but he can’t get a proper slash due to not having any room for it. The only thought here is space hamster running in a wheel inside Ravager’s head.

Monster somehow dies to at best 2 marines in a 1 tile wide corridor. Marine gets ressurected.

Profit?

Crawling as PFC is bearly any better than standing and shooting, at best you can move one tile before getting killed.

Not true, sometimes if you rest the xeno will walk past you, then you can stand up to bodyblock them from behind!

Crawling can be situationally very useful. I’ve seen many scenarios where if a marine crawled underneath a xeno, they would’ve lived/escaped.

Happened to me once (and that was the only time I saw crawling as non-synth/non-pred/non-admeme spawn role have any use), I was defender on hijack cornering scout in maintenance, fortifying for the funnies so he couldn’t escape except the crawling, which he did and because he was in invisible state I didn’t notice that. If he was visible I would unfortify and then move back preventing any shenanigans.

The best scenarios I can imagine “crawling” helping doesn’t have anything to do with crawling itself. If xeno (like runner) walks into you which initiates that stupid mechanic where you can’t sidestep, you can rest and then stand back as soon as possible which makes xeno pass and the faster the xeno, the further it will walk past. But if you tried to rest and crawl 1 tile and then stand up, the xeno has enough time to return and start tackling, or just slashing, or any using any stun ability.

But everyone can rest, it isn’t unique marine ability giving them unfair adventage. Saying “xenos can’t bodyblock marines, because they can crawl” is simply not true. Unless we talk about synth, or pred (who isn’t marine).
