Brain Damage force moving/dropping items RUINED playing without a helmet

There really isn’t much else to say.

It’s not the RNG decap chance that stops me from using a helmet,
It’s not PFC John Smith burst firing me in the head for an instant bone break,

It’s the fucking movement and dropping item debuff that is more debilitating than losing a limb and makes you 100% combat ineffective because your ability to fight at all is no longer reliable, and worse you don’t know it until you randomly drop your gun in front of a warrior.

It doesn’t even require a bone break to happen!!!

And it’s compounded by:

  • Health scanners DO NOT SHOW THE DAMAGE
  • Repairing the damage requires special snowflake drugs
  • Those special snowflake drugs are NOT available in medic vendors
  • Half (frankly more) of the medics DONT CARRY THEM

So you fight for 15 seconds, get hit in the head a couple times and now you have to try and find a medic AND beg for the drug specifically, because 99% of the time they won’t give it pre-emptively nor check your eyes with a flashlight.

You are more combat ineffective than if you had lost a hand or a foot, and it has a much higher chance of happening at a much lower threshold of damage.

Playing without a helmet was perfectly balanced before this change, all this achieved was remove the option almost entirely as a viable choice.

This “feature” should be removed, and we have some options:

  • Get rid of brain damage entirely
  • Just get rid of the random movement/gun dropping
  • Make it significantly rarer, like a delimb chance rare

We had no problems with people going without a helmet and getting decapped before, but this one single change a year or two ago completely murdered this playstyle and I’m tired of pretending it didn’t or that everything is actually fine when it isn’t.

a single pill of ia

I mean, or just wear a helmet?

Personally I think its good that you have a major detriment for not wearing your helmets. TBI is a real thing.

The snowflake drug is litterary on every single medic that has a medal. Don’t buff litterary everyone because helmetless people get punished for not wearing a helmet.

The sacrifices we have to make for the drip

IA pill packe typically comes in 16 pills, which can be made in 1 minute, with 2-4 medics per squad.

Or, hear me out

Just get rid of the brain damage

There is a stage where you nerf something so much that you essentially, in all practical sense, remove it from the game, and that is what has happened to going without a helmet.

None of you will care or notice if the brain damage is removed. You will maybe see more decapitations in the field. I seriously do not understand this bizarre NEED to have such an awful mechanic in place. The decapitation alone is already more than enough punishment and we were fine for years until someone decided to randomly add brain damage effects without consideration for nor discussion of, the implications on the viability of playing without a helmet.

This IS a problem and it DOES ruin my enjoyment of the game. I want to be able to actually play without a helmet, not be incessently punished to such a ridiculous degree that it’s become pointless.

At the very least let me buy an IA injector or something. This is one of the dumbest mechanics currently in the game and I’ll die on this hill.

If you really want IA so much, you can ask for 4 IA pills from the chemline to put in your general pouch or similar.

Frankly… no it not at all a big deal. First off you can just give up the drip and take a helmet. second off.

Asking for IA is not at all hard. Most medics should have it and if they don’t have it. They will have Peridaxon unless they for some reason thrown it out.

health scanners don’t show any organ damage what so ever so its not unique. All organ damage requires a special snowflake drug to use. There would be little to no point to medics and docs if you could just vend every thing yourself.

Also this, ask for some pills for your own use or perhaps ask for a Hypospray filled with IA.

Here is the thing part of what makes the drip cool is that fact willing to gimp yourself for style.

brain/eye damage is THE ONLY organ damage you can fix by using pills and you wanna nerf it

Have you considered wearing a helmet

(I run helmetless, to be clear)

Wear a helmet or ask one of the medics with braincells who’s got IA, ain’t that hard.

If you want to look like the protagonist without a helmet git gud enough to not get hit, otherwise it’s off to brain-bucket land with you.

boonie here, i dont have any issues without wearing a helmet; brain damage is pretty nipped quickly. Ive got over 1500+ hours and ive never really felt so miffed like I do about how caping works. even decaping feels exceptionally balanced; i can remember every time ive been decap’d, ive been gibbed more.

the real complaint is the reasonless removal of health huds for helmetless people; you dont wear a helmet its already a nerf; i for the most part just rescue everyone and loot them if theyre perma or situationally determine or scan / shift click. but i miss it….

I feel like your drip can be showed off all you want. Then, the dropship lands on the planet, and you start RPing like someone who has self-preservation instinct and use protective gear. Sounds fair?

Now this i agree with, this is down right odd nerf to not wearing a helm.
