Braindead CLF Crash Gamemode

Sorry for wall of text, I’m taking a shit at work:

A quick lil 40-50 gamemode people can vote for if they want a breather. I say 40-50 min because it’d escalate so fast I expect it’d be over even sooner.

Might utilize some HVH mechanics but it’d be over so fast I doubt it.

50% of server spawn as CLF on a hijacked UD-4 CHEYENNE DROPSHIP. Standard poorly equipped CLF, bear in mind.

30%-40% of server spawn as marines & a few other necessary roles in a consolidated cryobay on the ALMAYER - ARES Red Alert has woken them up re: the very quickly approaching hijacked vessel.

10%-20% of server spawn as xenomorph larva dormant in some of the CLF. The CLF w/ larva inside them are players who explicitly signed up to be xenos (there’s probably a much better way to integrate xenos into the round, I just can’t think of it right now).

This dropship will crash into a random spot on the Almayer ala Hijack 2 minutes into the round.

There’s little to no prep time, no real opportunity for metagaming, no pretense of roleplay other than what the gameplay situation actually creates, it’s just immediate action, and just when you think “damn, marines and CLF are holed up, this shit gonna take forever” – the xenos fully mature. I cannot picture a round of this taking longer than 40 minutes.

There could of course be objectives beyond TDM but that’s up for discussion and ideaguys.

The spawn ratios could definitely use tweaking, I’m unsure the power of CLF.

Would a gamemode like this be something people would be interested in me developing, even if it’s only made votable like once a week?

I think it’d probably be a great LOWPOP gamemode tbqh. That’s where the idea came from.

To be honest, it does sound interesting with the proper tuning and balance. Id say go for it. It would be good to have events in lowpop.

PS. I am also taking a shit at work.

First actually decent Ideasguy. Maybe the kid has some potential.

As if people don’t complain about TDM enough…

Thread’s official anthem:

Also if the hijack was done after 5 minutes of prep I’d say that it is likely to work.

Eww your name is the thing i hate the most.

Also, 5 min into prep time would be amazing

IMO I’d set it up that both the CLF and the USCM have at least five minutes to gear up and get to know their comrades.

Lore wise, you can fluff it up that a Freighter remote controlled by the CLF has already just crashed into the Almayer. The cryo-bays are mostly jammed and only a few of the Marines and support personnel can be thawed. The CLF strike force is an-route in their stolen dropship and will crash in X minutes (alternative is to spawn the CLF onboard a small CLF ship map with the Dropship landed and set to launch automatically after 5 minutes).

I would keep the UPP v USCM HvH settings but perhaps set full darkness on. Maybe you can code it that all the USCM have a light source attached to them that is perma-on, even when naked, to give the CLF the advantage of darkness.

I could see this working as some kind of lower-pop event.

Excellent input all around thanks steelpoint. Shuttlecode is weird but I’m figuring it out now.

Anyway, this probably gonna be the scenario:

“YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE COLONIAL LIBERATION FRONT. YOUR ATTEMPTED HIJACK OF A W-Y FREIGHTER WENT SOUTH WHEN YOUR HOSTAGES ALL TURNED UP DEAD AND THE NAV SYSTEMS FAILED. SAID FREIGHTER IS CURRENTLY CAREENING TOWARD THE NEAREST SIGNAL LOCK - THE U.S.S. ALMAYER. THE DROPSHIP YOU ESCAPED ON DOESN’T HAVE ENOUGH FUEL TO MAKE IT HOME - GUESS YOU’RE HEADED TO THE U.S.S. ALMAYER TOO. CHECK YOUR GEAR AND HIT THE DECK!!!”

Your freighter idea is great Steelpoint because that solves the problem of “well, how do I get xenos involved?” Rather than it being a coordinated attack by the CLF though, I want it to be really fucking bleak. And 5+ min prep rather than 2 min would be better, yeah you’re right

I think introducing xeno larva right off the bat though might be a little too chaotic for a Lowpop gamemode - was thinking instead there could be a facehugger spawner  Unlimited facehuggers lmao

I don’t know if objectives are necessary but they’d certainly provide some depth.

Could have the Freighter have been carrying a large number of eggs or something, so after the CLF crash there is a steady stream of Facehuggers and Lesser Drones that can spawn into the map, sort of like Forsaken, to add third party pressure to the game.
