So why did we remove the ability for boiler’s to use membrane walls as a point of cover to shoot at marines??
Seems silly, My idea is we either give this back to Trapper or Base Boiler to use so membrane has an actual practice in defense builds other than a “Wuh you made that??? grr griefer!!!”
I’d love it if membranes were a bit more resilient to encourage their use in certain setups. But yeah, Boilers really don’t need to be made more difficult to punish from range as it currently stands.
They would be a counter to DMR stunning boiler behind 2 defenders. But thats about it. Otherwise its litterary just worse then having a defender infront of you since it only takes about 10 to 20 shots from an M41A.
I’ve read the post and I think buffing membranes in such a way is buffing boiler
membranes are better off removed but I don’t see why someone would put in the effort of removing them from code
besides this membranes are present on maps so you’d have to remove them from lv and such
Your rigth, you cant shot at the boiler behind a membrace. But you know what you can do? You can move out of the way of the unhidden boilershot. Because you will see it from a mile away.
But your rigth, that you cant 180 noscope a boiler after he announces hes going to fire is very unfair.
Much more fun to have them shot out a boiler glob from a door in a time manner that is all in all about 0.4 seconds. A time frame not allowing a reaction in time by most though to latency, hardware, and general reaction time. Wich requires as a counter constant awareness of said boiler. While the boiler just needs to be able to count the time it takes to charge his shot.
Its much less fun to have to counter a boiler by moving out of the way with the skill requirment of having to see them. And its so much worse for marines besides that, i mean. You can see EVERY other xeno on the other side as well. Not like that xenos can see marines through solid walls is one of their greatest advantages they would have to sacrefise for this to work. Or that you can get cords and set lazes through membrance. Or that membrane have about half the health of walls.
Really, shooting through membrane is by far the worst way boiler shots could be done.
I sometimes play Drone, Hivelord and Queen and having to build fucking membranes would drive me crazy because of how weak they are.
Membrane stacking will make counter-sniping boilers not possible. Before, clearing out one round of walls with a bomb of some sort, UBS, concentrated gunfire would let you cook the boiler and make it retreat - membranes will make it unfeasible.
OT rocket is not the only way to deal with boilers. I introduce it as an example to show how opening a door would be risky for a boiler. Mainly, UBGL HEDP.
You can easily dodge globs even if you do not see boilers. I do not want to make dealing with boilers any easier - either you have situational awareness to know if they are behind that door or you don’t.
I don’t want to deal with the potential drawback of bald drones building membranes as a xeno, letting scout or SG with nvg peer down with binoculars to see me behind what would otherwise be 100% non-transparent wall.
