I have watched marines fight normally after being infected 3 minutes ago, get to a medic, get into a stasis bag, medevaced and the larva removed without a problem
being infected by the embryo shouldnt be a inconvenient timer for when you die and you still have time
So i think we should decrease the time you can spend hugged outside of a stasis bag,
i want to make bursting faster outside of a stasis bag, so marines are encouraged to stay inside one
and nothing would change for caps, most of the time a 7.5 minutes or 5 minute timer doesnt make a diffrence in caps
Acid goop pls, also I think you forgot to mention the side effects when hugged. Such as being able to be stunned by sentinel no matter what and random spasms
Getting into a bag and going afk until you get surgery is peak game design. We should strive for the game to have more players alt tabbed at all times watching youtube
The fact of the matter is that capture/infection based gameplay is inherently unfun and tedious to be dragged through. But, its what we have and its the theme of the universe we’re playing.
The current burst time I believe is fine. Its low enough that you can not afford to delay, but long enough you have a fair chance to get back to the FOB/Almayer for surgery so long as there is a competent Corpsman to send you, and a Doctor to treat you. Months ago the burst timer was so generous you could be infected and spent upwards of 10 to 15 minutes continuing to fight on the frontline before you finally decided to break off.
Hell nah, it is atmospheric to fight as infected rine. Current time is way too short, you basically have to go back to the ship ASAP unless you know somebody runs medevac.
As said before, there are disadventages to fight as capped marine (and one adventage), but being capped and rescued shouldn’t be that big of a punishment. You stepped on a one weed tile that was covered in something and you didn’t right-click that one, or you were pushed onto it and then got PB’ed instead of saved.
Now pray marines know to help intent click you, or be damned.
One thing I think that should be introduced alongside what ihatethisengine proposed is reverting larvae growth when being rescued from alien nest to give you like half the time any marine gets after being capped.
Like come on, it doesn’t happen anymore, people burst that fast.
revert burst timer to 10 minutes but make tackling an infected marine always 2-2 tackles with 5 tacklestrength And if larb is above stage 2 then you won’t die on getting devoured or dragged while in pain.

Burst timer isn’t in the code anymore, it’s controlled via a config file, so you’ll have to bug someone with config file access to change it, or even know what it is I believe.
edit: can’t respond cuz 1 hour timer but cmss13-master\config\example\config.txt (and then move it out of example folder to just the config folder i guess)
Problem with the current burst timer compared to the old is that you have no chance to save captured people. Usually it takes 6 minutes just to get to the hive without resistance. With any resistance saving captivities is nigh impossible. So this hurts RP and immersion a lot, because there is never a reason to try to save your comrades unless you are already basically at the hive doors.
Yeah, people calling out over the radio from the hive just get awkwardly ignored at this point. Really takes me out of it – nobody gets invested. The rare times that happens have lead to some of my favorite moments in this game.
Well since the problem is making people more savable but not able to keep frontlining safely when hugged, how about this. Bursting doesn’t perma you anymore, it just gives you chest IB, normal chest bleeding, chest frac, heartbreak, and 200 chest brute damage. And then you have to perma before they can dissolve you in an egg morpher. In exchange, morphers can now digest anyone who is perma, and being perma makes you draggable by xenos. If this isn’t enough, they could lengthen the burst timer but make the hugged effects worse to discourage frontlining when hugged (more frequent knockdown, longer knockdown length for example) - they could also lessen the effect of stasis bag to compensate as well
You suffer from pain while larva is in there and eventually put into forever paincrit
Xenos can literally perma tackle you after 1 successful tackle (Every other tackle is a confirmed hit)
Its super short already. I can’t even fight for 2-3 minutes without risking beginning to suffer from stuns. And anyone in the hive is doomed to burst almost immediately without chance of recovery.
