But, but, how will I show strangers on the internet how based I am if I’m not dabbing on cringe haters on the forum???
Tacticool > Tactical
If I as a SL get decapitated, it means I as a have either as a frontline SL, underestimated my opponent and should have simply not been in that situation or was too hot headed even with the helmet off for cooling.
Also If you are getting decapitated is just as bad as getting capped in fact better since you denied a cap (not like they matter now that pylons are a thing [that’s another topic]).
drip or drown
It is NOT about a helmet. It is about “Let people do what they want, it’s a game and you shouldn’t be trying to micro how people play it even if it’s just a tiny aesthetic choice.”
No, it is agains’t the rules to “let people do what they want”. Medic is supposed to heal, squad leader is supposed to lead.
Helmet on SL isn’t that important from the perspective of everyone else and command, but it is still taking away some information that overwatch could gather if he had his helmet on.
Defib is comparable to a helmet camera. Defib is just much more important and lack of it denies a part of Medic’s job, which is reviving dead marines, they can still patch wounds, splint and pill people and such. Just as SL can still lead his squad, only overwatching officer is denied SL’s vision, so he has to hop on cameras of every other marine around.
Again, for tired folks: It is not about helmet. It is about clearly wrong assumptions that are completly against the rules.
Just because some stuff might not be noticed by staff immeidiately, does it mean it is cool? Oh, SSDing is against the rules, but first somebody has to report you, so no one is punished for going SSD.
the thread is about giving sl a helmetless camera
You are arguing on a post to fix helmetless cams, on how you can’t see though a camera on helmetless marines. Read the post god damn it.
Unhinged take I’m sorry to say.
You both are arguing about it too, instead of what OP posted. I’m uninterested in the topic of camera ear piece, I don’t see a point of not adding it, it is neither a buff, or nerf.
I’m interested in a topic that was started here without my intervention. Literally from the thrid post in here the discussion shifted to “SLs should wear helmet”.
The only one arguing against helmetless SLs (of the kind where they are still monitorable by CIC), was @Call_me_Arty (and the only thing she was against was the fact that it dosn’t give decap protection when you don’t have a helmet, and makes others play aSL). Nobody else here had an actual take about camless SLs being a good thing, or a thing that was bad, except for you.
Bro we supported the idea of the headset, which is what the OP was suggesting lol
I don’t really get how anyone could be against helmetless cameras for SLs. The people who don’t wear helmets as SLs aren’t ever going to wear them outside of staff literally jbanning people for not wearing helmets.
So, that issue isn’t gonna get solved. Some people like drip over protection, we won’t be able to nudge that unless we add some very unpopular policy changes, which will likely never be implemented.
Of potential negatives, the only one I can think of is that adding helmetless cameras will “encourage” people to forgo helmets.
It’s my opinion that the fear is unwarranted- To be frank, the main reason people wear helmets is for protection- The people who wear helmets will continue to do so (because they don’t want to be decapitated), the people who don’t wear them (and never will) get to now not-fuck over their squad SO.
Regarding Arty’s take, I don’t think she’s actually arguing against helmetless cams? I saw her argument as more just complaining about helmetless SLs in general, and that it’s unfair for others- Which is true, but this is also the wrong thread to argue about it. The helmetless cam idea is not intended to change the proportion of helmetless SLs in any way, it’s to mitigate the effects of it.
This is a win-win for SOs & CIC, and I can’t imagine why anyone would argue against making SO’s lives easier.
Pros of helmetless cam:
Customization without annoying CIC.
SL’s who don’t wear it anyway can now be overwatched without CIC having to ask them to wear a helmet.
(These two are sort of the same thing)
Cons of helmetless cam:
Some* SL’s might stop wearing helmets, making them significantly** easier to kill.
*most who would already do, and there’s nothing saying you wouldn’t still be able to make them wear one.
**assuming xenos properly capitalize on it and are able to close range with the SL to begin with.
damnit cabal you sob I missed you so much
old forum cabal would have thrown in some personal insults but
BABY HE IS SO BACK
Personal growth, as direct personal insults achieve nothing, gotta be more inconspicious about them.
hello my friends
despite the fact that i am very bad at making PRs, yours truly will attempt to make an item that fits on the unoccupied other ear slot (except if you’re a comtech and use it for screwdriver) and provides cam foootage
nvm this shit too hard
Man’s fought and lost to the CM code.
o7
Spend another 6 hours and you’ll get it. Also you can always ask for tips in the coding channel
- Copy this line into your item
- Put this into Initialize() proc (create one if there is none)
- Add a check for your thing alongside with the helmet, so has_helmet would be true if you have the thing on your ear (optionally rename the var to has_camera, you’ll have to change it in the ui as well, so use search option!)
- Add code here to it look for a camera in your item if there is no helmet
This simple!
Imagine just throwing the it dead languages and calling it simple. You wizards need restraint.
He does play a mean pinball.
