Why do you wish to become a Fax Responder?
I love making imaginary worlds more lively and this role is just it. The fax responder just provides so many opportunities for RP and some behind the scenes action, making the rounds less similar to each other and just in general more interesting! I’m a person who tends to send a lot of faxes while I play, and i’m always thrilled when I get my fax answered, so I wish to share this thrill with the other people who also enjoy sending faxes every other round.
What do you consider the purpose of this role?
For me there’s two purposes for this role :
- The first is the plain and simple Provost stuff, that is essentially a last resort for appeals and other ML related issues that appear before (or in parallel to or even as a way of) escalation to admins.
- The second, much more fun and grandiose is the the actual behind the scenes play. Making the world more lively, making it real, making it believable. Making you believe that you’re not alone in this galaxy, there are people on the other side of it listening to you and waiting for you. This role can also create amazing RP opportunities and steer the round towards something unique and fun. In the end this role is comparable a mini DnD DM that can give you a quest, build you a story and send you forth on an adventure, guiding you slightly perhaps, but letting you live the freedom of your character, all the while incarnating an NPC you would encounter during said adventure!
When would you consider it appropriate to use your phone?
Essentially only during either :
a) an event
b) a major emergency that could ruin another player’s round if not dealt with immediately (example : MPs about to execute someone whose appeal was accepted)
If playing WY Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CL?
I can’t say specifically, it would heavily depend upon the round and the CL. If the CL is more experienced, sending them on some round long quest that leaves them a lot of freedom would be more appropriate, if the CL is newer however, then simpler, more straightforward tasks may be more interesting to give. But in general things like : “Attempt to secure X or Y object from the colony” or “Have X chemical produced and analyzed and send a report on its effects” or “Provide a detailed autopsy on X survivor” or “interview X survivor and have them sign an NDA” can be quite fun to give out. But if something out of the ordinary is already happening during the round, the best course of action would be to give the CL something to do with that and implicate them further.
If playing Press Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CC?
There’s not much I can imagine myself giving in terms of tasks to the CC as they are usually already quite busy broadcasting on the ground and don’t really use a fax, but if they are bored something like “make a short article about intrasquad relations” or “document the process of larva extraction from a marine” could be given.
