Description of the incident:
So my abomb was on hive weeds that where made by the core, sitting there waiting for the marines to come.
Meanwhile drone BOM was south at the entrance to labs, building up defenses to slow down the marine hoard when they pushed.
So John Preds walks up, fires his HPC into the drone and instantly kills it. The abomb wasn’t even stunned, that’s how far apart they where. The drone was building hive defenses like I told it to, it could have been making a cluster but I saw a wall. The drone was instantly destroyed.
This is a hive of four btw vs 40 marines + renegade queen (and hive)
Yautja are antagonists - however, they should use common sense when it comes to hunting during a round and be aware of their surroundings. They should not be detrimental to the round and Whitelist as a whole. What is written above in this Honor Code realistically covers only a small portion of events and scenarios Yautja may encounter during rounds, you should be using the set in stone rules in the Honor Code to guide your judgement in situations not clearly defined by the Code to ensure you act in a way that befits what is expected of a Whitelisted Yautja.
The Yautja Council holds the final say and can remove you if they believe you are not acting in the Spirit of the Whitelist. Obviously, every case will be handled case by case and won’t be used for grudges.
He could have taken two steps to the west and then a step north and hit the abomb. A lack of care resulted in the hive losing the only drone that we had, making someone that wanted to play defender de-evolve and go drone so the hive could have a shot at a comeback.
Hi, pred in question here. I had never fought a predalien before, didn’t know its stats, and so didnt know it had near explosion immunity. my plan was to get close enough to prepare an explosive arrow, fire it at the predalien to stun it long enough to get some volleys in with my plasma rifle. Unfortunately the drone saw me as I approached, and blocked my shot. I was aiming for the predalien with an explosive arrow and it unfortunately either direct impacted, or landed near the drone and killed it. I wasn’t aiming for the drone and had no reason to try and kill it, as it wasn’t really a threat to me.
I’m sorry that the drone died, but as both you and the abomination were sticking close together, I really couldn’t risk rushing it in close quarters, and I wasn’t familiar with the plasma rifle or bow as I hadn’t fired either previously, and wasn’t sure the exact range or explosive power of either. I haven’t had a reason to use either in my normal rounds.
Within a minute or so I was rushed, surrounded, screeched, and killed, which kinda shows why keeping my distance and trying to pelt the abomination from range was the right choice, the drone getting hit was an unfortunate side effect of my ignorance in using the bow, and my ignorance of the predalien’s stats.
EDIT: as far as i can recall I only ever fired one arrow, explosive. I don’t have the greatest aim but I did have a sightline on the abom and I was reasonably sure the arrow would hit it
I only see one issue with @kooarbiter actions, technically the drone was not defending me therefore not classed as dishonourable which spans the issue of the explosive arrow usage. Using the arrow on me would have been fine, however I believe that there was a lot of misjudgement in the situation.
As Chi has stated, we were a hive of 4 (Not including lessers or huggers). We were already outnumbered so I do not believe the use of the explosive arrow was warranted. It is allowed by HC standards but user discretion should still apply.
I do not think @kooarbiter did anything immensely wrong. They did apologise in discord and dchat about it. Mistakes happen.
This part below might be unrelated to this WL Report due to it being more of a staff issue but just so the council knows why there was one pred randomly.
My personal issue is with the fact that a predator was even sent in the round (Not a hunt round) which was already stacked against the 4 xenos. To put into perspective, we had the USCM (With nuke) trying to kill us and a renegade hive (That was given a Queen). Mind you, yes the Predator did get killed instantly, but that was all dependent on their abilities. The action of sending the Predator was unwarranted.
I wasn’t trying to use the arrow on the drone, they either got hit directly by it or were in the splash zone of it, but they were absolutely not my target. I wasn’t aware of the numbers of the xeno hive, I just wanted to start the fight off with a strong first attack before moving to using the plasma rifle, as I was excited to finally use the bow for once.
Greetings, I was playing as the drone that was killed- BOM.
Sadly I didn’t record my gameplay this time, but it went something like this.
I was mostly weeding the area south of the hivecore, I was a healer so I really coudn’t make defenses. I then spotted an invisible predator south west of the entrance to the labs I think and ran back to report that he is there, I think the abom and the queen were right there (if I remember correctly, maybe it was just the abom) stopped and typed out “He is southwest” (predator was already called out being around before). Right after I said that, the next frame and I’m gibbed.
Now personally I found the death funny, as It was sorta comedic with the timing of the words and the instant death right after, so I didn’t mind it that much.
But having the state of the corrupted xenos in that mind (at that moment there were only 4 left, fighting against marines and the renegade hive) it did impact the already heavily pushed scale of balance against the corrupted that were struggling to surivive.
Anyways, that were my thoughts, thanks for reading.
I believe this was already handled, and I’m sorry this is a full month late. But The aforementioned Predator was suspended in conjunction with this and another report around the same time.
They’ve already served the suspension for this report. So I will consider this resolved.
