I was just about to say that the PR literally states that they do not answer to CL, but someone already did that.

I don’t know why they did it like this, considering the W-Y research won the poll, but I guess we’ll see how it goes from here.

They are coworkers now, but not in the same department. If the CL wants to use some sort of power over the researchers he has to go through either his department head to theirs, or something similar.

Imagine a sales manager trying to boss a back end coder. It didn’t work.

Sorry. That means I misunderstood then. It would be nice for research department to get their own fax machine then. For the sake of a W-Y fax responder, to communicate with them.

Your on the same team you just can’t order them.

CL gets some power back, but it is nowhere close to what the CL had in the past.

CL used to be able to upgrade research clearance, and give ultrazine pills which could be scanned for MST (speed stim keyword). Free research points AND able to get speed stims without clearance X were a huge deal in the past.

Nowadays CL doesnt have any leverage that doesnt require admin intervention. Sure, using the power of faxes they could arrange to get research point papers from ‘WY’ in exchange for a xeno egg or something. Outside his fax machine the only thing he could provide is wiretapping for the CLF, firebombs out of sake, and ultrazine injectors no one wants for uh…some strange reason.

Ok fine and give req money if they find the funny tuner, which while it is powerful, it is circumstantial and stuck being a deal in the shadows due to the tuner and all uses being illegal.

Because ultrazine makes you an addict after taking just one.

also the high last for like what 5 seconds.

Honsitly it’s a bad drug even ignoreing the addiction.

It’s not worth permantly slowing yourself and dying of organ damage for 5 seconds of increased movement.

CM development generally works like this: take stuff and then nerf it to uselessness while leaving it in the game to pretend you havent functionally removed it

When did the CL ever have power over them in the past few years? Nothing changes from my perspective as a CL player. Research can still choose to tell me to fuck off.

If you want anything from research, youll have to negotiate/ask, which already was the case prior to this PR.

Heres a good question RP wise. Now that research is officilay part of WY, do they then know about the Liasons secret containment chamber?

I would imagine not. If the PR sticks and research remains W-Y - they are basicly a different division (R&D) or just regular Weyland-Yutani scientists contracted (Special Services? Generic grunt doctors? The latter would explain their incompetence) to work on USS Almayer (W-Y loans them to USCM apperently, according to the ingame researcher prompt).

I would argue that it is more of an opposite. Remember, for the longest time, CL has access to research cameras in his quarters. His office is also literally across the hall from the department, letting him easily keep and eye on them. Although, it more often results in CL getting a front seat in watching the chemical lab blow up third time this week than anything else, but it does allow him to be the first to know when they decide to do greenos again.

Lastly, them knowing about the secret compartment in Liaison’s office is kinda undermining its purpose and is a little uncool.

Agreed. Call it an W-Y Insurance policy against pesky researchers that grow a conscious. You will be sent to a black site and disappeared.

I never did, but people at times go around saying things like researchers answers to the CL and shit in the past.
