Just a quick idea that popped into my head that I thought would make claymores more useful as an alert tool.
Similar to how acid/hugger traps work, when one triggers, it could send an alert to the engi frequency similar to how you can set up notifications for turrets on the laptop.
“Claymore has triggered in (area)”
Might be handy for marines to be able to use them as proximity warning tools to gain potential intel on xeno movements.
Countered by the fact that solitary xenos could trigger them intentionally to draw marine attention elsewhere that the hive could exploit.
I don’t really see much use of this because of how the game is. Because for xenoes, its a great tool since there are very few backliners(for marines), and those backliners can do great amounts of damage, while also being the “elite” faction so that they cannot have xenoes just willy nilly defend their backline.
Marines however, don’t really have a use for it. Claymore at comms exploded? Probably a runner or lurker. And most of the time its defended anyhow. Claymore at hydro road? Again, lurker or runner. Claymore at front? Yeah, its a claymore. It explodes.
So all in all this would just be more information, because you want more information. Its not usefull information, but its information regardless.
I beg to differ on that, it could be pretty valuable information. If your entire minefield south of the LZ starts blowing up, you know you’re about to be flanked by a decently large force.
And vice versa, if you have a detonation on comms you now know there are contacts near comms.
Its a pretty useful feature idea ngl. Especially for command, the more information CIC can have to use and factor into commanding is generally better.
Claymore being connectable to the laptop would be pretty cool and when they get trigger it will say it at the laptop
“Claymore at [location] has been activated”
