Alright… so, to get this started, we have to get a vague understanding of Alien(s), Predator, and AVP Lore. In the original Predator and Alien movies, they were unrelated. However, AVP was made originally as a comic, for fan-service and to combine the original two IPs.

However, each of these franchises has different lore.

Predators -
Created seperately to Alien(s), with no reason to believe they are connected to the Alien(s) OR AliensVPredator franchise.

Aliens -
Takes place in the future without any hint of Predators, outright contradicts AVP with Prometheus and Covenant

AVP -
Takes place in the future, focusing on, well, Aliens Vs Predators.

Why does this matter? Because, the question I am presenting today is which universe does this take place in? There are some very odd things regarding lore, some even contradictory, and we’ll have to figure out what weird space CM SS13 fits in.

Exhibit A : Hybrisa Prospera
Hybrisa Prospera is a very normal map. However, in the South Caverns, there is an Engineer Ship. Engineers are only lore accurate to ALIEN(S), as explained by Prometheus and Covenant, so then we must be taking place in the Alien(s) franchise? I mean, we even see Black Goo containers and- WRONG!

Exhibit B : Predator Whitelist
Predators are a playable role, if not held behind a whitelist. However, Yaujta are only lore accurate to AVP, which shouldn’t be possible due to the fact that Predators are EXCLUSIVE to AVP or Predators. Now, there is something extremely odd, during rounds with The Hunt active, the Predator ship that spawns has… Xenomorph Eggs on it.

The answer (unfortunately) is whichever movie the contributor making whichever feature liked the most :frowning:

Otherwise I believe the general setting is taken from all the movies, while PvE focuses on 2 and 3, is the official stance?

Frankly, I don’t think it definitively takes place in either universe. In fact, I would consider it to be in its own universe where the events of both AVP and Aliens (and technically blade runner but thats neither here not there) take place. This makes the most sense if you consider the amount of homebrew that directly conflicts with established lore in the main two universes.

like no joke i think CM SS-13 is prob closest to the AVP games.

Edit: i think a lot is taken from avp extinction like i am pretty sure the Ravager comes from that game.

Be sure to check links below too. Be aware not everything will be accurate today. Discord has also lore tidbits.

After reading all of that you can easy say that CM takes place in its own universe unconstrained by franchise rights.

There is a little bit of Terminator and Blade Runner lore alongside first three Alien/s movies, fourth is too much into the future and is ignored pretty much completly, prequels get stuff pulled from them, Alien Isolation is taken into account, alongside some other game more on less.

Stuff changes, but it is safe to assume that CM takes place in separate universe with bits and pieces of pretty much all Alien/Predator works.

If nothing changed CM predators were living peacefully on a lush planet like caveman, but then climate change hit and they big-brained speedrun of space travel (glitchless) in no time because of that.
