Dedicated Training Squad?

Is there or could there be a dedicated squad for training players that anyone can join, but is automatically set for first time joiners? It would be much easier for mentors and anyone willing to teach to join and help if these people were corralled into a squad.

How do I say this.
Alpha is kinda of already the default squad. It’s what a new player would not generally change at all.
SEAs already have a bunch of notifiers for new players.
Most training is done by telling a private how to use vendors. How items interact in-game and how to shoot and reload. From there they would ask questions before deploying or hopefully use the Mentor help system.

As Mentor who has had their fair share of PVT only squads.

I can without a doubt say that this wouldn’t work-
Squad Gameplay requires multiple anchors not just the anchor point of SL.

Most of these marines died because I had to cover multiple things at once for SL- that is not something that should be encouraged.

While yes a training focused squad “sounds” nice all its going to do is increase hostility from some players towards a squad.

On one hand, I’d like the idea of keeping FFers and noobs in a dedicated squad (instead of them grouping up in charlie), but on the other… It’s not like they’re gonna learn things while being kept in a noob pen

Like, you’d learn way more while being a lone PVT in a squad of 10-15 veteran players (simply by observing what they do), rather than being grouped up with 4-5 other PVTs in a squad SEA has to babysit

Imagine a lone runner picking you off one by one while your mentor is losing their shit trying to do something about it

I like the idea and it makes sense but, I do think new marines are better off just running with normal marines. In the same vein of Dyv’s idea I posit the below:

That said, I’d like to see an icon, kinda like SG, Spec, SL, ect., that indicates a new player. This would let players like myself know at a glance who is new and can take them under my wing in the field to train/protect them. It would also help people know the guy who just blasted them in the back with a shotgun was new and that it was probably an accident. Hopefully this would lead to better trained marines, good player interactions, and player retention for the community.

Granted, this advertising of a new troop could cause some more toxic members of the community to hate on the unduly but we should help out our new members the best we can. Also, while I love our SEAs and the work they do is phenomenal, one class on how to marine in the ship is way different once we touch dirt.
