just 90 round m41a Drum mags available for AP or Regular ammunition, self filled, 45 vendor points in every marines vendor. comes empty, I feel like the point cost will reduce how many take it alone. however outside of marine accessibility why are there no drum mags. maybe I’ve been playing too much DayZ or Zero Sievert.
Drum mags don’t fit the M41A both technicly, and visually. That, and staff probably don’t want everyone to have a semi HPR in their vendor again.
Something similar you might not know is the IMP backpack, its literally an Ammo Box Carrier backpack, you can hold up to 3 Boxes of ammo of any kind, mags, slugs, buckshots, loose ammo etc…
45 points for a single mag that comes empty, its just plain like useless, as you know. AP ammo isn’t something you can get access easily, most of the time everyone will have taken most 10x24mm mags of it. (except 10x20mm, nobody uses the poor M39)
PS: Usually its pretty rare to find a marine using it and activelly carrying ammo for the front, at least, i don’t see it so frequently.
It’s really easy to get 10x24mm bullets. That’s why I always pick up empty AP rifle mags if I see them. There’s usually plenty of M4RA AP mags. M4RA is also 10x24mm. It’s just in a different magazine.
wait the IMP backpack hold ammos then yea its useless but in my brain I just want the
Drum Magazine aesthetic
The issue is more the IMP ammo rack whatever confers a major slowdown penalty to whoever wears it. It would be nice if the slowdown penelty was reduced or eliminated based on the armour you are wearing.
So if you are wearing light armour you get the full slowdown but if you wear heavy armour you get no slowdown (argue that the heavy armour has special straps that make it easier to use it), so you’d have another minor incentive to use heavy armour if you want to be an ammo/flare carrier.
Isn’t the mk1 literally what you want? This just seems like a way to put mk1 magazines into the mk2 and use them without the drawbacks the mk1 has.
The M41A in fireteam elite do have drum mags. Though the m41a’s in that game are newer and lack the grenade launcher. Still it wouldn’t make sense adding in what is essentially a magazine that turns your gun into a mk1 with extra customization and doesn’t seem to have any downsides (unless they plan on making you really slow because of drum mags weigh a ton)
I guess to balance this you could make it so you’re slow when you walk with it in both hands. Basically decent for suppressive fire which also makes you vulnerable to xeno attacks
Giving a new way of fighting.
Choke fight? Switch to a mag drum.
Retreating, Switch to a normal magazine.
I’d rather just remake the HPR into a slow and heavy firering gun then give the Mk2 options to become a HPR/Mk1.
Eh, why not just ask req for a mk1 instead of spending all your points on a single 100 rounds mag (which isn’t that much ammo at all) and finding ammo to load it (you would probaly have to carry an ammo box as well in order to refill it) only to be slowed down to professor dummy for backliners-level?
sounds pretty fair
