Hello, as the title says, Duty Officer is only mentioned in ML.
This can create confusion, because on SOP, the equivalent of the duty officer, get full commander rights, while in ML it’s specifically called Duty Officer, i’ll make an example:
-Major John Marine is the Commanding Officer and Commander both in ML and SOP, and it’s deployed
-Captain James Navy is the Duty Officer in ML, and get Commander Priviledges from SOP rules.
Do you see now why i think it can be confusing? An XO, could mistakenly call the execution of a prisoner(which from ML rules cannot) because he got confused reading SOP and ML.
Or an XO could think to not call ship DECON since he is just a duty Officer.
Now that i explained the problem, i would like to ask to clarify this, or make it Idiot proof if possible.

The Verbiage section does tell you the terms are for clarity within each “Document”
Presumably you’re supposed to imply this is specific to the page. Because that’s how it is, as you don’t need a distinction between DOs and Commanders on SOP but you do for ML.
Only nerds read though. So *shrug

Yes it’s true that it’s specified for each document, but i already had a couple of rounds recently where people got confused. One thing is just an XO being confused, which is more understandable, but i also had a CO and 2 CMP getting confused, which are supposed to know ML and SOP to the core.
Anyway, i made the post mainly to explain why it’s confusing expecially to new players
