Rule 4: No griefing

Description of the incident:

The DP was forced to go down to LZ1 on orders to rescue marines, and then refused to open the dropship airlocks. I am convinced this wasn’t a case of incompetency, but rather malice. Not only were they ignoring pleas to open the dropship doors, when asked to open them they started closing more doors and then took off after the marines left his sight and XO ordered him over announcements to open the doors. I for one was a victim that ended up dying due to this, not being able to board. Watching the video provided in evidence should give a clear picture of how deliberate their actions were.

As the CL, I can confirm. Myself and an IO were the only ones to get on alive, due to him. He was not SSD. The second the XO told him to open the doors, he did it. He just blatantly ignored us like some sort of goldfish. Blank stare. He was definitely there, he just didn’t do jack shit. The response time to the XO’s order was uncanny.

Howdy ExGame and all,

I apologize for the delay, there were a few other things I needed to get on top of before returning to player reports. After reviewing the video and reading through the logs, it seems as though the pilot was not intentionally griefing.

The pilot had placed sentries on the back of the ship and had left the back doors singularly open to prevent a boarding action. As Stephen ‘Gamemaster’ Lewis was yelling at the PO to open the door the PO responded “BVACK DOORS” (not captured in the video).

Generally, through reading their logs, the pilot officer appeared to be heavily immersed in the game. They seemed to not be seasoned to meta considerations about what does and does not pose a danger to their character, leading them to act with more caution and self-preservation than a regular player: panicking at the swarming xenos, locking the xenomorphs out, and leaving before absolutely necessary. Furthermore, they were watching the game through their LZ detector, and may not have seen marines yelling at them directly through the window. Some examples of their logs are posted below:

PO observing the LZ, presumably through the LZ detector addon

SAY: Zeke Mills [Command]: SOUTH FOB
SAY: Zeke Mills [Command]: “QUEEN SOUTH FOB”: x2
SAY: Zeke Mills [Almayer]: SHITTT
SAY: Zeke Mills [Almayer]: GET ONNN
SAY: Zeke Mills [Almayer]: GET O N
SAY: Zeke Mills [Almayer]: FOB OVERRUN. I MAY NOT COME BACK
SAY: Zeke Mills [Almayer]: GOING DOWN IN 10

SAY: Zeke Mills [Almayer]: I SEE QUEEN AND 7 XENOS

INTERACT: Zeke Mills launched the dropship alamo on transport.
Zeke Mills [Almayer]: GOING TO LZ1. WILL TRY AND KEEP THEM OUT

PO at LZ1 (Somewhat cropped for ease of reading and relevance)

SAY: Zeke Mills: BVACK DOORS
Zeke Mills launched the dropship alamo on transport.
SAY: Zeke Mills [Almayer]: LZ1 overrun as well
(Response to getting yelled at by Stephen ‘Gamemaster’ Lewis)
Zeke Mills [Almayer]: What do you mean almost there. 6 aliens scratched the crap out of my DS wfor 60 seconds
Zeke Mills [Almayer]: I liteally took off with WEED ON MY SHIP. i had to fucing go
Zeke Mills [Almayer]: THEY WEEDED MY SHIP. i had no option but to leave
Zeke Mills [Almayer]: CL, you weren’t watching througl LZ detector cams. there was no less than 7 aliens on that LZ. queen was behind them for sure
Zeke Mills [Almayer]: Those marines were dead from the start
Zeke Mills [1]: I opened the back door
Zeke Mills [1]: Trust me, i saw that LZ
Zeke Mills [1]: It was infested

Ultimately, while this pilot officer may have not performed their role optimally or as a more seasoned player might, they do not appear to be in breach of the server rules. I can certainly understand everyone’s’ frustration at the event, but the player in question does not appear to be in breach of any of the server’s rules: report denied.
