Description of the incident:
I woke up at roundstart as the delta spec. After going to my prep and picking the sniper kit, I returned to the cryo area to get food and was attacked by the delta FTL. As they had started punching me, I punched them back - eventually they fell down in crit, whilst I had broken ribs and was near crit. A delta medic came and healed us both. As the delta FTL got back up, they started punching me again. This time I kept punching back, even after they fell down. The delta SL came in from their prep, and threatened to shoot if I did not stop punching.
I walked away from this, got the rest of my gear, after which they followed my through prep, asking “what the hell it was” then ordered me to lie down. They are not an MP. They do no have authority to interrogate, or detain, anyone. They then opened fire with their MOU5, killing me.
I ahelped at this point as I felt it was an OOC issue as they had escalated to lethals, attempted an arrest despite not being an MP, and could have just ahelped themselves if they felt any server rules were broken by me punching back when attacked in prep earlier. Instead they chose to use lethals and kill another player, breaking Rule 10- “If at any point combat is disengaged and both parties leave the area, you cannot skip escalation and plunge back into a fight” and “If at any point combat is disengaged and both parties leave the area, you cannot skip escalation and plunge back into a fight”.
This was refused by Moderator “Vending Machine” who, when I ahelped about it again, replied “you killed a marine” and “do not ahelp again. it is dealt with” while giving no explanation as to how me killing a marine in self defense permits another player to break escalation rules when they are able to ahelp and in no way permitted to use lethals to break up a fistfight.

Chat logs - Album on Imgur - attached combat logs of me punching the FTL, and the SL shooting me. I was unable to screenshot the log of that moderator rudely and unhelpfully refusing any further explanation, and threatening me if I ahelped further.
I would also like to add that I have no problem with the FTL punching me, they punched me and I punched them back, no one used lethals or pulled a knife so it was a fair fight - we keep hitting eachother until one of us doesn’t get back up and leave it at that. This I have no issue with.
My issue is with the SL inserting himself into the situation, acting as if he is an MP, and using lethal force after the fight is already over to impose his - incorrect - version of marine law where self-defense is punishable, and thinking he can just Battlefield Execute someone. If you think someone has broken server rules, you ahelp and it becomes an OOC issue. You don’t get to pull a gun and shoot them when they are not an immediate danger to you.
Will add what little context I can here as I was an SO partially handling this with the major. It’s my understanding the FTL started the fight, the sniper finished it in self defense, and the SL came in with limited info, assumed the worst, and shot down the sniper. Sniper got revived in medbay, and eventually me and the major questioned everyone.
Player behind denoril was cooperative and not griefing and willingly surrendered to arrest which makes me believe it was just a bad call and not intentional trolling. I tried to talk to the FTL but they were SSD for the entirety of it so I have no idea if they just got a little wild, or were intentionally trolling.
The sniper who was killed was cooperative throughout the situation as well. You’d have to log pull to verify, but it looks to me that denoril walked in and assumed the sniper was murdering the FTL, and immediately fired to end it. This is exacerbated by the fact that I believe comms was cluttered with talk of a murder/shooter in delta prep which may have given denoril the wrong idea.
This is incorrect - he did not shoot to end the fight.
The FTL fought me in the cryo/food vendor area. After that I walked away, back to my spec prep area to grab the rest of my equipment - as far as I was concerned the fight was over, I won, it was settled IC and no ahelps needed. I then walked west from delta prep towards the shared Charlie/Delta armoury area with him chasing after me, and eventually shooting me. This was several minutes AFTER me fighting the FTL.
