Fighting survivors dosn't seem fun anymore

Just as title says. There are barely any xenomorphs wanting to fight survivors now a days, and the ones that de are far and few between and die to survs because they somehow have the numbers advantage on them. Will say that i’m not one of those who play every day, but every time i roundstart as xeno, 90% of the hive is just AFK in base, waiting for T3 or just AFK in general until marines arive.

survivors are just an annoying sidequest in a game you’re completing a second time so you decide to avoid it

it should be noted that OP just died to survs

Its not really forced to fight them at all, unless queen explicitly says to go hog-wild on them, I played plenty of surv rounds where xenos just didn’t feel like grinding on surv cades endlessly and just losing numbers, so they just let them be since they don’t have the gear and manpower to kill any significant castes anyways, nor the hive

Well thats the issue isn’t it. It’s just an annoying sidequest you can just choose not do and instead AFK for 20 minutes while doing something else. While the ones who try to do the said “sidequest” gets punished since its only them and maybe 1-2 others who even bothers anymore.

And i’ll happily do it again 100 times. I don’t care that I die to survs, but more that most of the hive just won’t fight them at all. Which is why the title is “Fight survivors dosn’t seem fun anymore”, and not “I don’t think fighting survs is fun anymore”

Always has been. It was either super easy, or super hard. Fortunatelly that is a part of a game that can be happily ignored. If ignoring survs will become meta, they will start roaming, so you can start killing them, so they start cading, so you start ignoring.

The surv ignorance cycle is the only way.

I think the current metaholds are some maps are just particularly tedious, and the addition of LZ gas means that the reward is non existant because survs will just run into the fog the moment you break the last cade.
Chances claim in particular feels very futile because once survs are established north of LZ 1 they are near enough guarenteed to get recovered and revived by marines (have fun with 2 scouts btw).
Trijent has the ridiculous turrets which force you to wait for ages as well. Like seriously poor design to have the turrets with the same sprites as normal turrets just melt you in seconds.
With LV survs all being on the colony side it’s difficult to cap safely so they tend to get to corpo safely then kill themselves in the gas when youre about to break in. Not especially lethal just a time waster when they run into the gas
No point even trying on New Vadaro when theyre caded in the middle of the water that throws you around.
Kutejvo just gives survs an insane amount of metal so they have 20 billion cadelines and never reach them. Oh and survs can easily get nvgs
Soro isn’t awful tends to be a lot of shocked door spam but it is workable.
Shivas is okayish although the snow makes it easy for roving surv deathsquad to chase loose xenos down.
Solaris is fine, pmcs try to rush ETA locks and give like 5 free caps or garage hold is fairly routine for xenos to break down.
Fiorina is also largely fine, often easy to catch lone stragglers early on and stop them getting organised. Marhals holds can be boring to breakdown but eh.
Some rounds I do fight survs some rounds I don’t, can’t say I die to them loads but can’t say I enjoy the current meta either. The problem is the more xenos who hive sit the less feasible it is to fight survs at all. And then if everyone hivesits the survs get free reign to destroy all the tunnels ready for when they get to play as pfc+.
On the flipside perma killing surv mains is soul

Fighting survs isnt fun, being survs isnt fun, rescuing survs isnt fun smh

I think we should remove survs and introduce a new role. It is identical in concept and mechanics except it will be called “succumber” to correctly mirror the experience of the role

If you think survs are scummy to fight against, dont fight them, on another note, slightly unrelated to the topic if you think survivor is too hard, simple as, find some other way to play survivor or dont play survivor. Its not really gatekeeping its kind of just finding what you like, and being upset that you cant fight survivors because you run the risk of dying is kind of silly.

Survivor has remained mostly the same mechanically wise, infact its gotten easier for xenos to kill them over the years, save for some pretty minor medical, engineering, and a pretty major endurance change many years ago.

Kind of comparable to saying lurkers are unbalanced and have been plaguing the game for many years and went unchecked, just because the style of playing is different.

I like fighting against survs and im not good at playing xeno by any metric, but I like the challenge of picking off survivors one by one alone and stacking fractures.

I don’t say that survivors are unbalanced, balanced, or hard to play. I am just asking for either opinions on Why you don’t fight survs as xeno, or how we could make survs more “approachable” as xeno. Because as it stands, the only way to guarantee the hive to attack survs, is going queen and ordering it with the fear of banishment. And if you don’t like playing queen, then theres fuck all you can do to get them going.

I don’t fight survs cuz the molotov spam, it’s not worth my time or effort or the risk involved

“anymore” suggests it ever was fun… I stopped fighting survs a long time ago, there isn’t much point. It’s always the most robust mfs just tryna frag as much as possible, and I usually lose more than I gain when fighting them. Even if there’s fucking 15 xenos swarming them somehow I’m always the one that gets PBd, so maybe that’s a skill issue on my part lol.

But you die, lose any chance of t3, and these days it’s even worse cause you unironically won’t get to respawn at all for an hour.
So idk maybe the larva nerfs and queue are the reason the lack of people willing to fight survs seems more exacerbated these days.

Oh sorry, okay; actual on-topic sort of shitpost but kind of not in which i also admit to METAGAMING (?)

survs aren’t worth the upfront effort to kill once they get too baked into their designated spot; FORECON imo is like never worth it for this reason; but other survs, regardless of faction, also are an investment if i leave them alive. In shrimple xeconomics, i know that a surv saved is a chance for command to take their eyes off the operation later because 1.) MPs are clueless and wont process correctly and 2.) CiC ppl get distracted when they see a blade of grass wiggle in the wind, so a surv means they’ll take their eyes off the operation at some later point to address them/arrest them/“RP” with them (shove ID in PC)/get shot by them, leading to even more opportunity and chaos to kill undirected unga. A surv in the bush is worth three unga in the hand, as it were. Mostly i dont feel too bad about leaving them since i know they’ll disrupt someone shipside or just cryo.

Survivor players adapt to gameplay changes, survive
Xeno players die to survivors, demand survivors be nerfed

Repeat infinitely

Survs isn’t fun to play as if you do not get a good role*.

Fighting survivors as a xeno isn’t fun not due to death but because cave huggers take your T2 and T3 while your busy playing the actual game, thats why some rounds NO ONE attacks survs; they do not want to lose their slot chance.

There you go, thats the only real problems with the survivor experience on both sides, everything else is a skill issue.

This pretty much sumarizes it for me. Lots of the current holds are just too annoying and boring to even bother as Xeno. Trijent turrets with 999999 ammo that fire ultra fast, molotov spam for 25 minutes, running into gas when breached in many maps. Etc. Since the caps were nerfed long time agoo, you no longer get 2 larvas for 1 cap anyway, 1 sister dies and it already invalidates getting a cap from them.

Not only is there little incentive to do it from a cap standpoint. If you die, congratulations, you’ve sentenced yourself to waiting for up to an hour in the larva queue and have lost the chance to evo to T2 or T3.

Why the fuck should I bother with survs if that is the punishment for dying before the round has even properly started?

Its not like besieging a cadeline with a team of survs with infinite moletovs is actually fun anyway.

Survs, as said earlier, need to adapt with all the changes (primarily the infamous LZ gas) JUST to have a slightly bigger chance of actually surviving, molotovs help a lot, which means they use them

The locker hiders will return give them time they always do. Some of you may think that killing a surv main is the best feeling as xeno but the TRUE!!! best feeling is having a locker hider mald in looc as you take them back to base.

Fighting survs has always been sidequest content, currently the surv meta is just particularly stale with getting a metahold, setting up 100 cades and holding with infinate molotovs. You probably wont have a good chance at them without t3s, so most dont even bother trying.

Also alot of maps have some real shitty surv loot, like thermals incend slugs which make fighting the survs alot harder since you cant know what they are equiped with.

All and all its just a massive gamble and if you loose it you will sit out alot of the round, used to be there would be a spare few burrowed larva you could rejoin as, so rushing and playing a bit more dangerously was fine but that just isnt the case anymore, not saying those changes are bad per se, but they do make xenos less willing to die to survs hugging cades and would rather just play the actual game.
