Description of the incident:

The XO posted a link in their IC announcement (they like to use hyperlinks to images instead of the ingame tacmap) and then I said “IP grabber” because my character has a background in IT security and was reacting to a hyperlink being sent over the PA system, LTNTS PMed me to ask why, I explained, and they just said outright that your character cannot have a background in IT security unless they’re an IO or a certain type of survivor

Your character has no intelligence/engineering skills, I frankly do not see how they can be a rifleman and also verify that the link posted in announcements is an IP Grabber. That’s quite frankly, just low roleplay.

Anyhow, your statement “IP Grabber” is just LRP shit posting in-character, which we do not allow ICly to maintain a MRP-level of gameplay. This is why you got the note.

my character has taken classes on the history of routing so he knows about IPv4 and onward

I see no wrong doing by staff here. They are correct in stating your response to be LRP. Further, it is a moderately safe assumption that IPv4 does not exist in the same way as we know it, considering it released the year before the ‘Alien’ film did, and consequently did not exist during production of the film, so did not verifiably exist in the timeline of the film.
