FOBBIT SPECIALIST: THERMITE SPECIALIST (GAS ONLY) (NOT PYRO-MEME-SPEC)

Hello, it has been a while since I made that weed killer gas specialist guide. Now I’m back with another gas-specialist utilizing a “legacy chem” or so others call.

Now that we’re done with weed killer, now it’s time to destroy something else with a legacy chem; the wall liquifier, THERMITE.

So what is Thermite?
According to the wiki:

And then so, we’ll officially start your kit of becoming the Thermite Specialist!

SET UP (Preparation)

Main Course

  1. First off, get flamer from requisitions. (Crucial if you want to deconstruct a lot of walls, especially during FOB duty.)

I recommend getting a G4 Pyro fueltank as well, with it, you can technically carry 650 units of thermite.

  1. Now, to make the [THERMITE SMOKE] it self, you will need a [SMOKE TANK] from OT or Research, this is THE best way ro distribute thermite to a large group of walls. Non-gas alternative will be discussed later. Research’s smoke tank has 150 unit storage but needs biomass while OT has 100 but only requires metal.
  2. Get thermite from research or mebay. 1500 units (3 janitorial buckets) is what I recommend, store these buckets in a G8 belt or hand-carry a bag if you want. (If they dont know how to make it, tell them LOOC: “[NAME], 1 Aluminium, 1 Oxygen, and 1 Iron to make 3 units of thermite.”, other wise, tell them in character and make an excuse of how do you know the ingredients if they are suspicious of you.)
  3. To fill the G4 fuel tank with thermite, hold it in-hand, right click sprite, empty canister, then find a reagent tank/welding fuel tank (empty), fill it with thermite, and click the tank with your empty G4 Fuel tank.
  4. Grab lighter, any lighters, cheap ones so you can buy more. Why more than 1 lighter? Just in case you lose one. Store all the lighters in a cigg packet. Match sticks do not work and are unreliable eitherway so dont touch them.
  5. [YOU ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A GAS MASK TO AVOID GETTING YOUR SELF MELTED BY THE SMOKE]
  6. TADA!!! You are now a thermite specialist!

Alternatives

-Beakers

  1. Fill a beaker with 30 (at least) units of thermite. 90 units (at least) for Reinforced/Related walls.
  2. Splash the targeted wall by clicking on the wall with harm intent.
  3. Ignite with a lighter and wait for the girder to appear.
  • Requires you to manually splash the walls instead of simply doing it all in one action.
  • Actually uses more thermite, about 2x of what your smoke-flamer would do.
  • “Faster” if you pre-fill multiple beakers to splash on the walls.
  • Over-all not resource-effective. (Doesnt mean anything if you’re not focusing on destroying walls.)

-Backpack water tank/Sprayer

  1. Get backpack watertank sprayer from kitchen’s botany, or researcher’s botany.
  2. Empty the watertank by spraying or dumping it’s liquid into the floor.
  3. Fill with thermite, and since each spray actually only does 2.5 units of thermite, you’ll have to spray 12x on a normal wall, and 36x on Reinforced/And such walls.
  4. Ignite with a lighter, and wait for the girder to appear.
  • Each spray actually only applies 50% of it’s usual load per spray, so you’re spraying twice as much to reach the desired level of thermite in order to destroy a wall. (Each spray from bottles and the water tank is 5-units)
  • You have to venture out begging research or the Mess Tech for the water tank backpack.
  • Over all not resource-effective. (Doesnt mean anything if you’re not focusing on destroying walls.)
WARNINGS (Read this before using this kit)

The following are things of DOs and DONTs when using thermite specialist:

  1. Wear a gas mask. As with every smoke-related specialist, you are required to wear a gas mask, especially for thermite and welding fuel.
  2. Thermite gas can melt head gears and people’s skin. First, thermite has the CORROSIVE PROPERTY so it can burn/melt people’s skin off, and you know how painfully slow you can get from taking burn damage. It can also melt helmets, radio, NVGs, non-gas mask face items, goggles, and abything that fits in the head-item category. (I BEG OF YOU PLEASE DONT MELT DOC (research’s mouse) WHILE SOMEONE IS WEARING THEM)
  3. Avoid spraying the gas infront or on marines. Why? Read number 2. Otherwise, you will be marked for griefing and at risk of removing thermite.
  4. Dont do things that you know is gonna be bad for you and your marines. Self explanatiry, think ahead before melting that line of walls will you?
THE MASS DECONSTRUCTION (Usage/How to use)

Now, the fun part begins in thus section.

Video-Instruction: (Made in a private server)

(How do I embed a video dammit)

Words-Instruction:

  1. Equip your flamer with the thermite-filled smoke tank.
  2. Smoke/Spray/Fire on a wall (make sure they aren’t “invincible walls”)
  3. Do this 2x on a non-reinforced wall (metal wall/bare (x) wall), 3x on a reinforced wall (reinforced metal wall/ribbed X wall)
  4. Grab your lighter and click on the targeted wall in order to start “melting” the wall.
  5. Give it 20 seconds/1 minute for normal walls/reinforced walls. (Sometimes the time can take less than 1 minute.)
  6. The wall should become a girder after some time. Now you can deconstruct it for resources! Or shoot it down if you did this in the frontline!

CT mains use the tools issued to them for free challenge (impossible)

Shooting became stale for me, I need new ways to be annoying to xenos!!!

Nice to see someone else picking up the torch of making guides for stupid legacy chems.

I name you the head of USCM war gases depratment. Good work.

I actually had no idea you can fill the G4 backpack, evil mentors told me it was impossible, huge knowledge

Couldnt you use a normal flame to ignite the thermite? like swap out the thermite tank with naptha and ignite it from afar.

To be fair. Engineering is hella gutted as is. Creative shit like this is probably the only reason the role isn’t completely dead.

Flamethrower to ignite thermite

Logic says yes but knowing SS13 and how full of snowflake code it is, answer is probably no

I have tried this multiple times but it doesn’t work. Nor you need welding goggles, nor does the burning thermite create light. Wish it did have a bit of realistic details.

You can also fill the 600-unit welding kit with other kind of chems like clf3, though you specifically need the red welding fuel tanks to do so.

Applies to backpack-welding bags as well.

Adan Stafford speedrunning making every single “somewhat hidden, rarely used but powerful” legacy chem get nerfed into oblivion by making guides on them.

Tune in two months from now for “FAKEDEATH SPECIALIST: Playing Dead and then PBing runners” where you get medical to make you 16 2u pills of zombie powder and then put them in the skilless pill bottle (hidden map loot) to easily self dose and fake your death as RFN.

give pyro spec a thermite tank, shit would be nutty

YES! Genius.

I actually ended up trying this, seems useful on FOBs with a LOT of walls. Aiming this thing is definitely gimmicky, as some clouds never land? Not sure.

definitely has it’s niche though, overall a 8/10, a nice addition to any F.O.B

People have forgotten how to be creative and unique that when someone does actually do something cool it gets killed into the ground. Endless cycle something something

Didnt even realize this post was from over a month ago, minor necroing but not my fault

idk if Sulphuric Acid also work since thermite and Sulphuric acid have both CRS (corrosive). might be hardcoded

if you want to embed a video just drag it into the reply box field thing, idk what the video size is but it’s either up to 10 MB or 50 MB
nvm lol didn’t notice this was a necropost

Walls do not store any other chems other fhan thermite. Thus, sulphuric acid cannot work.
