Description of the incident:

For some background information, this was as a survivor, the hold location was at garage, pre-drop (around 12:20-ish) and with the PMC nightmare insert.

As we had decent gear, I and the rest of the survivors were skirmishing and fighting the hive in the area surrounding the garage holdout from 12:07-12:24, including the area east of the virology lockdown and the open area inbetween marshals and garage.

I had been skirmishing and fighting xenos at the open area south of cargo for most of the round up until this point, when one survivor Alexei, came down to join me in fighting the several xenos in the area. We were fighting for a couple of minutes, when we pushed a bit further to try and kill a sentinel (the small hallway between medical and the store). When we had decided it was too far away to be worth it, we ran back towards the viro lockdown, when I suddenly stepped in a trap hidden under a bush.

Immediately upon stepping in the trap, Lang’Kell roared and ran towards us from the darkness with his weapon out. For a few seconds I ran away from him trying to get the trap off of me, to no avail, so Alexei and I had no choice but to shoot at Lang’Kell while calling for help over the radio. During the firefight, I saw several xenos who we were just fighting (The sentinel we chased included) awkwardly prodding around the edges of us, as (understandably) they didn’t want to get inbetween two PMCs and a predator.

After about 30 seconds of us fighting, another survivor and our engineer Octavian, alongside our synthetic survivor Cecelia, ran down to help us try and fend off Lang’Kell, shortly after which Alexei was killed and dragged south into the store by Lang’Kell. With the timer on the trap finishing, I, alongside Octavian and Cecelia ran after Alexei’s corpse in order to recover it.

We had ran to the maintenance hallway of the store, when Lang’Kell uncloaked and started fighting us again, in the tight hallway, Octavian accidentally shot me twice, breaking my foot in the process and forcing me to stop and deal with my fracture. During which, Octavian and Lang’kell fought just out of my sight while I was splinting my foot, with Octavian dying in the process.

After my foot was splinted, Cecelia and I ran out to LZ2 to try and recover Alexei and Octavian’s corpses, only to find the both of them beheaded with Lang’Kell nowhere to be seen (Healing, I assume). As a result, Cecelia and I started carrying Alexei and Octavian’s corpses back to the holdout, when just as we got to the area south of cargo, a freshly healed Lang’Kell ran from the darkness and started attacking me again, while I was carrying a corpse and injured.

Of course, I died almost instantly as I was already pretty slowed from the broken foot and pain, after which Lang’Kell dragged me into the store and beheaded me.

I would like to list two things from these events that I view as being against the spirit of the whitelist:

  1. To quote an example of a bad spirit of the WL “Placing hunting traps on a road leading out of the FOB and attacking anybody who walks into them.”
I would understand if we had never been in the area prior, but I and occasionally other survivors were fighting around the virology lockdown for a majority of the time up until the events. Unless it was placed before we were at garage and me and several other survivors got incredibly lucky with where we stepped, or the timing was perfect to that it was placed in the minute I left to help with a push into medbay. It would seem that the trap was placed directly in an area where we were currently fighting in, and that Lang’Kell was expecting one of us to step in the trap mid-fight/pull-back, seeing as he instantly appeared once we had stepped in it.

  2. I understand hunting survivors, and that’s more than fine by me. But when it comes to nightmare inserts, a majority of them are decently rare, with the PMC one being no exception. I am not saying that nightmare insert survivors should be an exception from the prey list, but it is certainly a dick move to permanently kill half of said insert, while they were still stranded and fighting the hive. Without uttering a word just because the honour code doesn’t say you can’t. Further on in the round, the remainder of the PMC insert spent a while RPing with the CL, thus meaning that the killing of the three of us most likely actively detracted from the RP potential we could of had as survivors as we were unable to be a part of said RP.

I will now list two things from these events that I view as being against the honour code’s prey specifications:

  1. Alexei and I were both actively fighting xenomorphs in the area (With there being a possible 10 second break before the fight?) when I had stepped on the trap, and we both took a few seconds to start shooting as we were confused as to whether or not Lang’Kell was going to pick up the trap or not, due to us being in the middle of a fight with xenos. And had said xenos who we were just fighting standing nearby unsure of what to do from the sudden intrusion of a predator.

  2. I cannot say exactly what my health was due to me not having a medHUD, but I believe, while pulling back Alexei and Octavian’s corpses with Cecelia, I was suffering from a fractured foot and gunshot wounds, putting me below 75% HP, while also hauling a corpse around on my back.

I have tried my best to give a clear series of events from my perspective.

I would also like to mention another similiar event:
Now, I am well aware I should have reported this when it happened, but a very similar series of events happened around three months ago on an LV-624 round in which the entire CLF nightmare insert managed to survive until 12:30 (This was when it was a 1% chance), only to instantly walk to LZ2, have me (The cell leader) step in a trap and have Lang’Kell fight, kill and behead the ENTIRE insert (In the middle of which a group of marines showed up, forcing us to fight a predator AND marines), before running towards a marine we shot in the scuffle and treating them, infront of a medic. Again, I’m aware that I should’ve reported it when it happened, but I still feel that it’s relevent, seeing as it’s basically identical to this.

I am aware that this is quite long, but the devil is in the details after all.

Evidence:

(I forgot to take any screenshots of the events after the matter for which I apologise)

I’m the synthetic in this report. My character’s name is Ciara, not Cecelia. They’re close, but it should help clear up the logs if they’re searched.

I did grab the bodies, and the PMC with me was attacked whilst we were trying to recover said bodies. During the time of moving them, he was attacked, and I drew my baton and told the yautja in question to leave him alone.

I was fairly damaged at this point, so I decided that when it used its translator to threaten me and gave me a chance to leave, I took it in an act of self preservation, as two of our team members were still alive in the garage. The yautja in question did not chase me to harass me further, so my involvement in this report is really only to clear up a possible name confusion. Also, yes, you did have a fractured foot which I had to splint for you, but I’m unsure of health at the time, as I don’t remember if I gave you pills or not (that’s usually an autopilot check if chems in body if = no then administer and advise).

Alexei here, just gonna say, this was just so bullshit to play against, you roll PMC have a blast fighting xenos just for someone to step on a trap, pred uncloaks right next to the trap roars and boom, dead. Instantly round removed, sure you can hunt us I get that but decapping 3 people at the start of the game just because I want to just doesn’t in my opinion fit the spirit of the whitelist. This man was just straight up fragger mode not a single word uttered apart from telling synth to go away from recovering jim and roaring at the start of the fight. As well as punching someone to make sure they fight.

Hello, I am the predator you are reporting. This is a lot of words for something that could’ve been said much more concisely.

Yes. I literally stalked you, memorized your patrol routes, and put a trap in a likely area where you’d go to, which was far away from your hold in the garage. The survivors killed 10 xenos put together and had more than average gear. You are more than worthy.

Your argument about ‘rarity’ is pointless when predators hunt rare prey. You claim to have been stranded and yet were roaming like there was no risk outside. So, I decided to become the risk.
As for your claim that me permakilling you detracted from the roleplay, it could be argued that you being decapitated provided more roleplay for the remainder of the PMCs and gave them an arc to go on, amongst other speculative scenarios about what killed them and why.
I think it’s also rather hypocritical that you’re pulling the ‘roleplay’ card when you’re speaking to each other in abbreviations and doing the typical gear rushes as survivor.

You were not in the middle of the fight with xenos. You were disengaged, and I made sure there were no xenos nearby to interrupt. Should there have been, I would’ve made the xenos leave with penalty of death.

A corpse that not only was permakilled, but involved in my hunt, thus both counts about the corpse are moot. The honor code explicitly says this. You were also at full health.

Indeed, whataboutism. For the record, I was fighting marines and you decided to roll up in your truck just after. I didn’t heal once while fighting you all.

I do not want to discourage reports, but you, as a whitelisted predator, should both know better and be more familiar with the honor code before making reports with false information in them and embellished with denigrating details that are irrelevant to the report.

As for Pablo_Excavator’s response:

I decapitated all 3 of you because I wanted to claim you as trophies. And just so you know, you round remove xenos and predators too when you kill them. You didn’t seem very mindful when round removing those xenos, nor do I see why you should be when doing that to preds.

I went fragger mode, as opposed to your passive and defensive attitude towards the xenos, right?

This is a courtesy I give you. It is time to react instead of hitting you with a glaive right off the bat. Punching unhuntables to bait them into fighting back is forbidden, and you were not unhuntables.

I hope this was explanatory enough for you all, and to those reading through.

hi, council, senator and i have discussed this and decided to deny this report

whilst hunting survivors is indeed a touchy subject, nightmare inserts which are equipped or even OP (in this case, WY PMC’s) are more than reasonable to hunt

I would understand if they hunted a bunch of civilians with barely any equipment, but they were fully armored and had AP with underbarrel flamers

Prey welfare was preserved as a third party did not make an impact on the situation

Predators are antagonists, they don’t need a reason to kill you as long as you’re worthy prey.

The video shows you in fighting shape too, meaning you are worthy.

Predators are not known for talking. You are prey, and they are hunters; until the tables turn. They’re not even allowed to hold a conversation with you aside from very exceptional circumstances (thrall, enslaving)

To respond to theories that players have posted (some of which got deleted):

  1. "You’re setting traps for people who want nothing to do with you:
A predator does not require your consent to fight, the same way a Xenomorph doesn’t or CLF.

  2. “They lacked proper ammo and proper meds”
They were fully armored and had AP and standard rounds, along with injectors. They were worthy.

TL;DR bulletpoints

A predator does not need your consent to begin a hunt.

The predator did not attack you while you were injured.

This is a fact that you were capable, equipped and ready to be hunted.

As for this though:

Do not engage in whataboutism, although you can give me the round-ID for further investigation but statements like this serve no purpose other than to damage someone’s character.

ADDENDUM1 since there was confusion: There was no violation of the spirit of the WL clause either, the predator was being a predator.
Although, this ruling will be discussed and change may occur if people are in agreement that this shouldn’t happen.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask me or the Yautja Senator @JoeLampost
