Command Knowledge:
How familiar are you with command positions?
Over the years, I have accumulated a total of 240~ hours in various command roles, excluding squad leader. I am fully comfortable leading and commanding other players and I find it enjoyable to do so. I have no issues leading different departments ranging from engineering, medical, req, military police, and CIC. I particularly enjoyed playing as Squad Leader and department heads during my initial years within CM, and at later years developed a liking for XO. From there, my interest grew and now I often find myself trying to roll XO and SL. Overall, I am familiar with every command position available to me and I have no problems playing them.

Character Information:
Why did your character decide to become the CO of a ship?
Whitelock was pressured by her parents in her early life to become an engineer for society, to build and develop. However, Whitelock wanted to explore the vastness of space within the Marine Corps. Whitelock, shortly after getting her diploma, attended OCS and was assigned to the first fleet as a second lieutenant. She transferred out to the second fleet shortly after serving her time. Being in the Marine Corps she slowly bonded with the men and women of the corps, all of them with different backgrounds and stories, all coming from different parts of humanity simply intrigued her. The corps grew on her warmly. Over the years, Whitelock came to take a liking towards her ship, the weaponry, and everything about it, as if it was almost dazzling for her. It was these strong emotions and her desire to lead her marines and ship into battle with a burning passion that allowed her to chase the rank of Major.
How did your character attain the position of CO?
Over six missions deployed and led efficiently, with many more minor missions to talk about, Whitelock was a high-quality officer. With a total service time of 10 years, she was simply one of the better candidates to select from to become the commander of a ship. However, all of these reasons come secondary to the main reason why she was promoted to Major. It was Operation Rogue-Arrest that led to this point. During the operation, a UPP heavy destroyer declared “rogue” by the government was opening fire onto hospital ships protected by galactic laws of engagement. During the battle, Whitelock worked closely with the entirety of the USS Celestial to devise the best tactics and how to perform them, leading them to victory. However, this battle wasn’t without its flaws, while the space fight was won, USS Celestial suffered major hull damage, and could not stop the last-ditch boarding made by the rogue ship. During the conflict inside USS Celestial, multiple marines died including Major Rudy, which brought about chaos within the ship. In the end, the marines aboard USS Celestial were able to eliminate all the boarders with only Whitelock and 2 overwatch officers to command them. Now with the open position in USS Celestial, she was elected for promotional evaluation by High Command.

Command Actions:
When do you believe it’s appropriate to pardon a prisoner?
To issue a pardon, in my opinion, should only be done to preserve the gameplay of the player and hold up the spirit of the law positively. Pardons should be given out when the receiver truly deserves it, their crime made for the better of the operation or on absolute accident. Going from this logic, a pardon should not be given out to anyone who hinders the operation with intent or commits a crime with no logic to benefit the operation. In addition to everything above, the receiver should always be remorseful of their actions alongside wanting to return to duty for them to receive a pardon.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use pardon.

An Alpha Squad technician is hacking into the tools room south of the Alamo, breaking in, hacking the vendors, and bringing them aboard the Alamo. They are arrested for this, I overhear the MP talking about the arrest and come to investigate, and the technician states that they need the equipment on the ground side to function better. This technician would be allowed a pardon and told to inform engineering and policing personnel on general radio the next time around. Bringing down critical engineering equipment such as vendors is for the benefit of the operation, and the technician is in the clear for such an action but is still reminded they should at least announce it.

Any new players breaking general marine law without the intent of griefing. Let’s be honest here, they are new players and if they do not have the intent of griefing, they are probably having some trouble getting used to OOC and IC rules & mechanics of the server. They should simply be given more leniency IC-side to make them have a better time aboard CM. An example of this would be a private firing a single round into someone in briefing and then freaking out/panicking over it. They would be allowed a pardon and preferably assigned a mentor/SEA for them to learn a bit better from.

Five infected marines are brought aboard, there is only one surgery-capable doctor in medbay, the other surgery-capable doctor being kept in the brig for theft. In this specific case, the doctor would be pardoned as it is for the better of the operation. There are simply way too many infected personnel and a total of one doctor to attend to all of them, having two would not kill the life out of anyone.

The scout specialist, while invisible, decided to steal the chief medical officer’s issued sidearm. He was then caught and arrested for this after the CMO reported it. The scout is remorseful and is willing to go ahead and deploy without bothering anyone else. In this case, the scout would not be receiving a pardon. A specialist is an important asset, but they are not critical for the well-being of the operation, missing one or two drops is not a big deal. They would be serving their time as a lesson.

A smart gunner from the Bravo Squad grabs a megaphone and repeatedly speaks nonsense during the briefing. When asked to stop by military police, they instead throw the megaphone at them and start running. After being caught, they are arrested and ask for a pardon following their denied appeal. This marine would not be receiving a pardon. Disturbing the briefing in such a way is in no way something I would tolerate and as such they will serve their time.
When do you believe it’s appropriate to use a Battlefield Execution?
From an in-character point of view, Whitelock would shy away from conducting battlefield executions to the best of her ability, as she has a burning love for the corps and the marines. She would instead be more comfortable with arrests. However, she will not shy away from a battlefield execution if she needs to conduct it for the better being of everyone else, keeping her authority and order. From an out-of-character point, I do not like to permanently take out anyone from the round, even in brig they can find roleplay opportunities and a way to have fun. I would use BEs on mostly LRP situations, such as being salty over a failed operation and inviting a mutiny.
Now for my opinions, as stated, battlefield executions should only be held when the one receiving is highly LRP, undermines authority, or is a direct threat to the well-being of the operation and the people around them. The most basic example of this would be to BE someone being suggestive or explicit towards me, not only is it against the rules but heavily LRP.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use Battlefield Execution.

I have deployed onto the front to act as a guide for the marines pushing; when the push fails and the marines fall back, the Delta Squad Leader comes up to me to yell to my face, “Fuck you CO, your plans can eat my dirty fucking ass.”, after this statement, I simply warn the lead to watch their mouth, however, they go on about to say “This CO is fucking stupid, don’t listen to her bullshit plans.” on the radio. This simply warrants an immediate BE. It is overly hostile and is undermining my authority as a commander while inviting others to do the same.

A marine that is being searched for capital charges is reported to be armed and dangerous. I see the said marine trying to break into CIC. At that point no warnings will be given to the marine, even if they simply wanted to tell me something, had no ill intention, or the similar, I cannot confirm any of those. Trying to come into CIC while wanted on capital charges and armed is getting you a direct BE.

During a hijack, I catch a glimpse of an MT destroying walls directly to our flanks. I order them to stop destroying walls, as they grant no advantage, and are simply a pure disadvantage for us. The MT stays silent and refuses to listen, continuing to destroy the walls. At this point they are not receiving another warning, we are already on hijack and they are opening up walls to our flank without any explanation after being ordered to stop. They will be receiving a BE on the grounds of sabotage to direct operation.
-
During the briefing, after I explain my plan and setup for the day, one of the marines goes out of their way to yell out; “This plan honestly fucking sucks, did you learn how to plan in your local supermarket?” following with inviting others to take a different route with them. While this opens the grounds for undermining authority, a BE will not be given. I will instead let the MPs deal with this person, as there is no reason to permanently take them out of the game. They’ll be staying in the brig.
-
In any situation where the BE could cause excessive damage to the ship, operation, or otherwise others around the receiver. In this case, the person who deserved a BE would instead be getting arrested, even if it means having to deputize someone to do it. I will simply refuse to BE someone if it will break the game enjoyment on a major scale for others.

Anyone who kills Jones. They deserve a battlefield execution. No questions asked.
