Give CO and XO a squad tracker like SLs and FTLs

Pretty self-explanatory, this has likely been requested before but I’m gonna rehash it anyways. You should be able to alt-click your squad tracker and set it to track the CO or XO in cases of them deploying groundside, as I’ve often seen them be at the head of pushes and leading them, especially in cases of when your squad leader is dead or perma’d and- as it happens somewhat often I’ve noticed, SO’s not setting a new aSL. It would be easier in these cases to find the frontline and so on. Xenos already get 18 morbillion trackers in the form of leader xenos.

We already have something like this.
The Honor Guard’s radio headset has a CO tracker I believe.

Marines don’t need more handholding like xenos

We have comms and T for a reason if you wanna find the CO

I don’t know that I could be more against this. Marines shouldn’t be getting incentivized to murderball on the CO, just use comms or follow your SL.

Honestly didn’t really consider this, it was more intended as an idea out of convenience because of a round I just had where we had no SL in Delta and we were somewhat scattered as a result, but completely fair point regardless. I still want to see what other people might think, though

we shouldnt incentivise more pointmanning and frontlining as command

could alleviate this by making the SL tracker change to the highest ranking marine in a squad when SL dies unless SO gets off of their ass and manually changes it

If the SO doesn’t set a new SL, it’s skill issue, more handholding for SOs isn’t needed either. And if all SOs are frontlining busy, even as rifleman you can always use the radio to ask where the front is, possibly leading to some groundside RP.

Marines are designed to require active communication across all ranks (SL and CIC especially) to actually be cohesive and competent. Marines are OP compared to xenos, the only restraining factor being a crippling lack of communication capabilities, and thus less responsive/insubordinate ground forces relative to xenomorphs (who have a hive mind, a queen and that’s it. It’s as simple as it can be.).

There is a reason why we split the marines into 4 seperate squads. It’s to make sure marines get absolutely buttfucked if the 4 squads can’t coordinate together. Adding a CO/XO tracker would screw up this core dynamic since now all 4 squads can easily converge on 1 individual consistently without ANY input from SLs or CIC whatsoever.
I don’t think a CO/XO tracker should ever be implemented, it goes against a fundamental balancing restraint we have for the marines.

SL trackers are almost always for people who are new to playing squad marine, or new to a particular map. Ultimately if your squad just doesn’t have a present SO and your SL dies a lot of newbies will be screwed over with little recourse if they aren’t already with the squad for whatever reason

This already exists just not for lower ranks.

For example synth can select co, xo, or any sl they want.

the squad marine need less intel not more. He’s way too empowered in his decision making atm already.

Just be a gigachad powergamer and rush the crew monitor NE of the memorial every single round before the synth does, and you can stalk anyone you want, even if they’re in the shower or doing a number 2
