Giving membrane a purpose

Okay so hear me out.

Membranes atm suck, they have essentially no purpose, give marines sight, and are basically trolling.

What if we do the following:

Make membranes stronger than walls, at the tradeoff that this thick, horrible membrane is see-through which provides a tangible tradeoff to do so.

You could make membranes stronger against a particular kind of damage like machetes, making it hard to cut or something, or stronger in that they’re more explosive resistant? just generally more hp?

it feels like a reasonable tradeoff, giving marines sight (the most valuable commodity) in exchange for being harder to remove

you could also make membrane require supporting walls to be held up, like horrible impassible shit kinda strung between them but can be seen through (would require a resprite)

Membranes are useless and should be removed they were only useful when trapper needed them but now it’s just xeno cage meme building tool

What your propose is buff health and leave everything else the same.

But that just makes it harder for xenos to bait marines into pushing cause they know whats there.

Instead make it so xenos can shoot through it but marines can’t. Limit it to 10-15 walls building limit or smth leave the same stats.

alternatively remove sticky resin and have membranes be a psuedo pass-through resin that is supported by nearby walls ala the movies of this horrible vertical lines between objects

or membranes not allowing light to pass through them so only really useful for xenos and humans with nvgs
