Description of the incident:
Making this report again Viktor Kleiner for what pretty much amounted in a refusal to inform me (the XO) what the plan for the marines was supposed to be up until the Alamo launched. When I woke up at the start of the round as XO, Kleiner had also woken up with me. When we’re both in CIC after getting dressed, I ask him if he’d like to command the operation, he responds affirmatively. I then ask him what I should draw up on the map so we can get something ready for briefing. He says he’ll get to it later. This is where the trouble starts.
After answering the CE about what OB should be loaded and telling him to set AA, it’s been about five minutes since the round has started. I still haven’t been informed of what the plan is. After asking Kleiner again over the radio about what I should draw up on the tacmap, I get a call from the CO’s office saying he’ll relay the details shortly. I respond affirmatively and then sit in CIC for a while waiting for what I assumed to be Kleiner gearing up to deploy groundside.
Another five minutes pass, and I still haven’t been informed of what the marine plan is going to be. At this point I pick the primary LZ on my own since I still don’t know what the plan is and I want to avoid having the DP land on a bad LZ and ruin the round. Kleiner does not react to this on the radio at all, so I continue to assume he’s still in his office getting ready to deploy. After talking with the CE for a bit in CIC, I check the crew monitor and see that he’s NOT in his office, he’s in the brig gear room, so I am completely at a loss for what he was delaying talking to me for.
This all finally culminates in Kleiner radioing req two minutes before briefing is starting that he needs all the parachutes moved to the Normandy. He has still not talked to me directly about what the plan is. I end up only knowing half of the plan because I spent half of Kleiner’s briefing moving parachutes because of how late he informed req. And then finally when Alamo’s about to take off, Kleiner just pastes the entire plan in the command tablet announcement. The Alamo is now launching, and he has still not taken the time to talk to me directly about what his plan is despite me trying to ask multiple times about what I should do.
This was overall bizarre behavior for what I’d expect from a CO. He basically acted as if I didn’t exist, which really sucks considering I made multiple attempts to try and talk to him and actually discuss what the marine plan was going to be.
