GooglyFox - Synthetic Application

Synthetic Application - GooglyFox

What is your BYOND key?

GooglyFox

What is your Discord ID?

Dutchy#4523

Do you usually play a specific character? If so, who?

Freddy Linton

What whitelist applications have you previously completed?

I have completed Synthetic application three times but both have sadly failed all those other times. I’m trying hopefully for the last time here.

Synthetic Info:

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play:

Frederick

What is your Synthetic’s Personality?

Frederick is a more wrench monkey, medical professional, and or protective unit than most. Passing off as a support if anything.
Since he’s a Synthetic, they focus on preparing for a long day, mostly working with tools and heavy construction materials, finding out what way to make shortcuts to cover more ground, tactically thinking of ways to make it harder for any enemy who crosses onto Marine grounds with field barricades, or administering medical aid in the heat of a battle, knowing where to do it.

They strive to make the Marines lives easier. Either way, he is mostly attempting to do more in the technical or medical fields of knowledge.

Frederick has the need to save marines at all costs when it comes to him being in the middle of a battlefield, he will take a risk to attempt to save a life, as long as it doesn’t risk his own. He wishes for the best for all the marines he is there with.

Frederick works harder than most, and may seem forgetful of other tasks he had after seemingly attempting to do something else, however he will eventually get to their given task. He’s usually always trying his best to feel as useful as other synthetics that might have a better moral, and or personality than him.

How will they react to the different ranks of the USCM, what would they talk about in a one on one conversation? What are their interests? What is an advertisement logline that could be written for them?

Frederick, the synthetic has to firstly commune with officers with obligation, and obedience, and he is almost always glad to work with them as long as it’s nothing harmful. He is interested in always doing better for himself, and for the Marines.

Frederick is a grease monkey, and or field doctor who always has an interest in keeping conflict to a minimum, and interaction with other Marines short. He’s usually sometimes talkative, attempting to usually strike up a conversation, unless it’s to talk tactically. Or helpfully. Either way, he’s as social as he is good at his job.

Say “Hello”, to Frederick, the synthetic technician, or doctor with a love for perfection, and or safety of Marines. He prefers always patching them up, or defending them with as many barricades as he can muster. The best of the best.

Weyland Industries. Here to give you a better world. And better employees, which is why we’re here presenting one of the technologically advanced Synthetics of our generation today.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

I am still trying to this day to do a Synth application, I would love for the new chance to roleplay as something else, and it would be a new experience. I sincerely wish to pass, but it’s up to you.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

I remember back a while ago we were on big red as survivors, we held in the garage. I saw a Synthetic pizza guy, he brought a pizza in, but sadly it was empty. I don’t remember their name but I think that was pretty cool. Since then, I tried to be one myself, just for the new experience.

Synthetic Character Story:

Skills:

Engineering:

I’m very familiar with Engineering, good with barricade placements, repairing, and anything technical. Anything.

Command:

I’m extremely good with Command, to call outs, orders, to watching for OB cords, and overwatch duties.

Medical:

Im very familiar with Medical. Up to Surgeries, and Chemistry. It’s definitely one of my main departments I do. I’m a pretty good combat medic.

Requisitions:

I’m familiar with Requisitions, to the point of cargo requests, crate packing. Pretty much about it, except for weapon and attachment requests from the desks.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

Some problems that would probably let me engage in combat would be defensive issues like if I was rescuing some random Rifleman from a lurker or runner on his own. Now while I can’t hunt the lurker or runner down I would be able to chase them, as saving the rifleman is my first priority. I can attack them a few times to get them off, but then probably drag the rifleman out of there. But if they once again attack me, I can’t do much. It’s the Marines job to kill the bugs, not me.

Final Info:

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason? Do you have any active jobbans?

Negative.

Are you currently banned from our Discord?

Negative.

Let us know why you were discord banned.

I haven’t been.

Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?

I do not, but I really hope I complete this application this time. I hope to finally be able to roleplay as something else.

You should link all previous applications where it says

What whitelist applications have you previously completed?

In any case, here they are and good luck man  :

Yeah, probably should’ve. Thanks though.

What timezone(s) do you play in, and at what times? For example, EST, 7 PM

Pacific Standard Time, it’s hard to actually find the time to play as well, since uh. High school, plus job seeking, and all that.

I DO have a silver, close to diamond medal on Staff Officer, and bronze, close to silver on Corpsman.

Way better but i think you are still missing the point.

Part of the purpose of a quirk is to help you roleplay and set you out from the other synths.
You narrowed it down… but being both a wrench monkey and/or doctor and/or and/or and /or… you are too broadly spread.

And it shows up in your roleplay and the difficulty you had in writing your story.

Give you a quick example. My synth is River, hes a long haired hippy tree hugger who wears sandals. If i were to ask YOU to write a 400 word story about “River making a Pizza” even you who doesnt play River could probably get by, right? Maybe you"d write about refusing to use meat, or piss marines off by adding tofu, or …

That kind of interaction happens ALL DAY on synth. I have marines tell me communism is wrong. Because i have my quirk I just quote some socialist phrases i have saved up… or talk about how i dont believe in government at all… etc. Someone asked me about how I feel about mps… “i dont think any being should be caged”. Its important because over time… if you dont have a strong character to fall back on your quirk will erode until you are just a robot with a hat (personal experience).

My advise would be to lean into one aspect. Maybe the grease monkey one. Flesh it out a bit. Maybe you used to do oil changes all day in nebraska. While asking someone how they are “whewie… you look like a car 3000 miles overdue for an tune up… what gives marine?” Ramble about the almayer more damaged than a floorboard on a ford.

The stronger the character the easier to roleplay, the easier your story, and the more unique you will be.

I admire your tenacity and the rest is good.

I see, thank you for the hint. I probably should have asked about in the discord for more story aspects, and ideas. I’m not too good at stories, and I was afraid to be a one trick pony by only taking one job. I would love to take your idea, and do it. But sadly I don’t think I can edit my answers anymore… I apologize for the short story.

Hey GooglyFox, thanks for your interest in the Synthetic Whitelist.

To start your personality just doesn’t have a unique aspect to it which makes Frederick stand out from other Synthetics. Tactically every Synthetic is an expert at essentially every skill, and thus Frederick ‘working harder than others, making marine lives easier, making shortcuts cover more ground’ is an attribute we can give to 99% of USCM Employed Synthetics. This means you should rework your personality so that it stands out more, give it traits from your favorite hobby or base it off a character you like, as examples.

I like the format of your story and overall its decent, just that we would like to see more dialogue. This is not exactly a problem of the story itself, but the personality quirks.

The experience answers are OK but could be elaborated more.

Your combat answer demonstrates that you understand some of the rules but you seem conflicted. You state that you can’t hunt the lurker but you would be able to chase them, which doesn’t make much sense. In addition, if a Synthetic is attacked it most definitely can defend itself in many situations.

Perhaps the largest complication with your application besides the combat answer and personality would be vouches and observations.

We were not able to observe your gameplay and also no vouches were given. This can be alleviated by playing more medical or command roles and RPing with others - making you a more memorable character.

I like your spirit so keep it up. Try to take the feedback above and also try asking in WL APP help for assistance with your personality next time you refine it. This app is unfortunately denied, but due to voting dilation you can reapply as soon as 11/22/23. Before you do that I highly encourage that you rework the personality, give combat restrictions a re-read and also play more to get your name out there!

Best of luck
