Enforcement Action Taken
Description of the incident:
Warning, Rule-2 | Player deployed to the front as a doctor. Any further deployment rule issues are to be escalated into a jban or similar punitive action. by hermotimos (Moderator) on 2025-09-19 19:57:39 (ID: 29985)
I was warned for deploying to groundside as Doctor? Despite XO authorizing it. I asked for escort when moving thru secure areas. I made sure not to go to the frontline by asking marines if it was safe, and then double checking on tacmap, etc. The note itself just seems… Extremely oddly worded like I actively fought.
[I should note, I asked BOTH doctors, and confirmed with the XO that I had done my duties before deploying if it would be fine. Filled the chem-fridge and aided with stuff.]
Also, you do encounter lurkers/runners while being escorted/guarded. It’s not like there’s a magic medical field that suddenly forms against xenomorphs. All of my surgeries were in proximity to or atleast guarded/escorted by a marine and had no xenos in sight? If a runner runs up to you during an escorted surgery… It would be kind of eh?
The rules/SOP should be worded more firmly at the least or atleast be more clear on what a ‘secure’ area is.
“You lack endurance and firearm training like marines do to defend themselves and others. Most marines don’t mind guarding a doctor performing surgery in a “relatively” secure area. Just be sure to ask nicely.” - Doctor Job role wiki.
Evidence:
Me being protected by a Medic during the surgery:
Ticket
Also, just minor thing (Unrelated) I was told I could appeal the note, but then when I asked I was told notes are unnappealable?
Also probably my attack logs? I had never fired on a xenomorph, nor actively like hunted? Just seems a bit poorly worded on secure ares
Updated: Added a picture of a Medic actively saying they’ll guard me during the surgery. Added the last part on the evidence, since it sounds like I deployed and went straight to the frontlines without escort to frag or fight as Doctor?
Edit: Added announcements. The announcements were AFTER I had started the surgery. Infact, the announcements stated they were retreating even deeper.
There were cades to the north and south. Do I need full cades? Do i need to actively be surrounded by them? Like… If you took a picture of the entrance and just the general cave system. It was mostly constantly caded.
Again, my logs should show me pointing and asking for marines to escort and I was taking steps to avoid contact (Using rangefinders I picked up)
I am just mainly confused about the note itself. It makes it sound that I either went directly to the frontline (I had literally never encountered a xeno other than the Runner) or that I deployed without auth or something? Alongside the initial ticket made by the moderator.
I was an IO in this round, and I was in caves past the 1 hour mark. I distinctly remember the doctor showing up while the cave entrance was caded and protected by a good amount of marines, with 0 xenos nearby. The location was 100% secure when they showed up.
After some time, they moved further in the caves, as seen in the photo above (I think they spent the rest of the round in that spot/close to it). I’m pretty sure there were no cades directly east but I think there were some west and there definitely were some north (at the cave entrance). Still, I don’t think the doctor took any major risks, especially since, as far as I know, they were never attacked by anything and the area was frequented by marines going to and from the fight.
After checking my logs and the announcements (As far as I can scroll) The only announcements was that they were retreating SW. The only time they were trying to push out north of labs was AFTER finished, was back behind cades, and was returning to FOB. Proof in evidence.
Reading your messages in the ticket and your report here, first I should point out that the Standard Operating Procedure is not the server rules; the XO is not staff charged with enforcing server rules, nor can they overrule them. So getting permission from the XO does not automatically mean you are allowed to do what you want.
As for how a Secured Area is defined: As we all know, the FOB counts as a secured area. Why? Because it is generally a place where multiple Marines are present, it is usually protected by several turrets, surrounded by at least one layer of metal and/or plasteel cades, and finally it is an area Xenos rarely pass near, and even if they do, it is very hard for them to get inside.
Now, with all that in mind, and referring to the image Detective Google shared above, please compare the area where you were performing surgery with the criterias I’ve listed. Do you honestly think the place you were in was really a secured area? Let me answer for you, no. It was definitely not secured, and just having a Marine with you or not seeing Xenos nearby for a while does not make an area secured.
A Doctor can freely move around the colony only when ARES has declared the all clear. Otherwise, shipside crew must never leave the FOB, in very rare cases they can work at Comms or certain points of the colony, but many conditions have to be met for that to be allowed.
If you are unsure, ask yourself this, “Am I as safe here as I would be inside the FOB?”
Or send an ahelp and let staff make the decision for you.
