okay. listen. I tried to get into GP a few years ago, and tried again a few days ago. But every time I do… there’s this ghastly thing called..
The gimbal
For those who don’t play GP, it’s basically the offset system for aiming and firing CAS. Every time I try CAS, I’m forced to do direct bombardments only, less I risk messing up my offset and blowing up a lowly rifleman.
Point being, I would be AWESOME if the gimbal system was just… a bit more brain friendly. Maybe I’m just coping and malding at the fact my brain can’t handle military areas and math. Like “Man which way was fore again?”
I just feel like the gimbal forces GP to only do direct bombardments and run fulton, medevac, and paradrop. I dunno.. Like I said, I might be malding but It’d be cool if the gimbal was a bit more simplistic for pea-brains like myself.

Gimbal is what makes GPs be able to do firemissions, not the opposite.
Ive seen JTAC and Pilots alone win games. Kyle Mortland comes to mind. Supperb CAS Pilot.
Most of the time you can look at the camera to watch where your offset is going in real time.
The Gimbal is just changing your starting position from whatever flare/laser you selected in the X and Y direction.
The Vector changes where you end up after the initial position whether it’s north east south or west from where your gimbal was set.
If you can’t understand Negative values are West and South, and Positive values are north and east when there is literally a set of buttons representing their movement direction arrow keys.
Is their a way to do CAS simulation like how the OT can with their bombs. I would be nice to get feedback without possibly killing people. Would be nice if the simulation had no cooldown so I can change the math freely.
Could be nice when trying out new weapons and seeing their blast radius. Plus I can see if what you people are telling me is true or correct without killing people.
probably just overthinking it or something, Might just be a me thing. I’ll see about getting more hours in GP, go from there. Offset does feels easier to use for newer pilots like myself, but I can definitely see how gimbal is important
Having the simulation computer was a great way for new GPs to figure out what their weapon systems was doing in real time. It needs to be brought back or added in as a tutorial because it was removed since it wasn’t compatible with the new UI
