Yautja Character Story:
Hailing from a clan of Yautja whose society venerated the honor and glory of the hunt. Xeco’tcovach was born as the runt of the litter to his Father’s clan. Even his father believed that Xeco’tcovach’s diminutive size would make him a worthless hunter. He ignored his child, assuming the runt would starve to death.
Eventually, the young Xeco fled the clan, ashamed that he had disappointed his father. He subsisted on grubs and plants for weeks until, one day, he was nearly killed by another Yautja hunter from a different clan. Upon seeing his state, he took pity on the small hunter and let him live. Besides, this was no mighty Yautja warrior worthy of the hunter’s blade.
Xeco spent months following this particular hunter, feeding off the corpses the hunter left behind. Hoping still that he might one day rejoin his clan, and so took great care in observing how the older Yautja hunter took down his quarries.
After some time, the hunter grew sick of the pathetic Yautja following him around. He put a knife to Xeco’s throat and told him that hunting was the only way to be a hunter. He tossed Xeco the blade and kicked him down a ravine, where he was forced to make his first kill to survive.
And from then on, Xeco spent years pushing himself almost to a breaking point. He scoured the galaxy’s jungles for the most powerful and dangerous prey. Though he would never be as big as other Yautjas, Xeco was determined to be twice as ferocious.
Then, when he finally decided the time had come, Xeco returned to his clan, ready to be accepted as a true hunter.
His hair was braided with the teeth of those he hunted, but his father merely scoffed at his trophies and decreed that he should hunt a more elusive and dangerous creature. As his father spoke, Xeco noticed the trophies adorning his father’s hut were dusty and old. His old man has not hunted in a long time and had likely become afraid to hunt himself. Xeco immediately interrupted his father and called him a coward. Many Yautja were blessed with strong bodies or comfortable homes. Xeco, conversely, was born facing death. He had taught himself how to hunt and had the trophies and scars to prove it: proof that though Xeco was born with disadvantages, he never gave up.
Xeco leapt onto his father and gutted him from neck to belly. The ancient hunters of the clan Instantly banished him from the clan.
But Xeco no longer needed his clan’s acceptance. No, all he needed was adrenaline pumping through his veins as he chased down his prey. He left without even pausing to take a trophy from what was left of his father for he thought his father was not a kill worthy of remembering. Instead, he set off determined to find and slay creatures and abominations that he wants to hunt.
Not to satisfy or amend his wrongs in the clan, but to satisfy himself.
