Have you ever looked into someone's character records?

I was re-writing some character records for two of my characters and I was wondering; “do people even read these”?

I know from my own experience that most people don’t have these filled in; just wanted to satisfy my curiosity:

Have you ever looked at a character’s character records, whether that is the MP or Medical or CL records?

They all used to pop up in file cabinets on the ground on all the maps so when playing IO I’d sometimes grab some people’s files to read.

99% of people don’t have anything written up at all

I put some things on my medical record if I take a crazy injury and live to round end kinda like scars on base ss13
I’ve never gotten in trouble with mp’s so I’ve just never put anything

I love them. I use to have mine filled out but they don’t matter and it’s a lot of effort for me for the 5% chance someone will ever see it. They’re still fun but I think people are just conditioned to see what RainbowStalin said, note about how they’re just HRP IC obligated to hate MPs because fuk da police, or HRP IC note about how they’re allowed to grief because they’re insane-but-not-the-medical-kind-so-they-can-still-serve-(Rule-1-Compliant)

I used to snag some as IO though yea. When I get bored as nurse in the morgue, I’ll look at them but mostly only if I think someone is doing interesting RP first.

If anyone needs ideas for what to add:

  1. Promotions/commendation
  2. Branch transfers
  3. Criminal records (especially if your origin is criminal, you can say the crime etc. I use to have the law my dude broke in his notes)
  4. Yearly standards performance for physical standards. Did you know some branches allow you to substitute rowing for running? You can specify stuff like that there.

Best thing is to find the goofy MS Paint drawings of the characters. Soul.

I had an MP once read my IC security records which said I got in a fight with someone some years back and they used that as a reason to justify me as a violent criminal and put me into perma.

Imo the wording on the poll is a bit vague, everyone has probably looked at records at least once, but it’s hardly commonly used and I’d say I view them like once in a blue moon out of curiosity.

Whenever I’m playing med or MP and nothing is happening, I’ll take a gander and look at some random ones sometimes. Not many people seem to have actually filled them out though.

So when I first made my records I made my security record fancy. You know, ‘this is classified’ in all caps and lots of flavor text….

Turned out, there is a character limit or something on records which I had gone over, if I opened it in edit profile it showed the full record I wrote. However anyone accessing it in game got a blank record. I changed it to be much shorter but haven’t checked in game if it even loads properly.

Why bother writing records if the only ones reading are IOs (maybe), and MPs when they’re arresting you for larping shit true to your records.
