Some of the absolute worst takes on mental health I’ve ever seen. “Don’t go to therapy, it puts too much burden on the NHS.”, what the fuck dude.

I think there may be some confusion in the timeline from either my side or the discord moderator’s side who banned me, from what I can remember as this was very recently I had said something along the lines of reviling against American’s for their outward patriotism towards their country I think was the first thing I said, then the moderator replied with “Oh I should ban you” or something along those lines, I was in the middle of a rather british conversation with AD-HD and apparently he was talking about mental health when he said “I find talking about my personal feelings to someone disgusting.” or something along those lines, I did not realise that the topic of mental health had already started and my first comment was a quote from Sir Stephen Fry about American’s and patriotism, not mental health.
When I realised that we were talking about mental health I had said that going to therapy puts strain on the NHS and may put someone who is suicidal at risk, I unequivocally did not say that you should seek help for mental illnesses like depression, if I was able to continue my point I would have stated that the NHS is not a system that is efficient or perhaps even usable at this point for people suffering from mental health problems, this is stated by actual doctors in this article here.
The fourth point of this medical article essentially lines out everything I have said in the discord when it comes to mental health.
I simply wanted to state that if you do have mental health problems while I would recommend seeing a therapist, it is not wise to get an NHS therapist specifically, this is because the system has left many people I know worse off as-well as my own Aunt who works as a nurse in the NHS, albeit not in the mental health sector has told me word for word that she would rather go to an unlicensed therapist’s boutique. (a boutique is a word for a small shop in england)
I did not want to give the wrong impression, at all, about how I feel or how ANYONE should feel on the topic of mental health I was simply making commentary on the National Health System and it’s inefficiencis in mental health treatment.
It is my personal opinion that England is sub-par when it comes to mental health treatment and according to a study done by an independent american paper, it is the second worst in the WESTERN HEMISPHERE of studied countries for mental health systems and treatment.
This is why while I may seem to be arguing with people who say “get therapy” I am simply expressing my own frustration at the system at large, it is not enough to say “get therapy” in my personal opinion because that leads people to the disappointment that is the NHS in the mental wellbeing sector.
If you are depressed, please, seek help from an independent organisation.
P.S I apologise to ANYONE who was offended by what I said, it was not my intent nor has it ever been my intent to upset or offend anyone who is under mental strain or stress or suffers from a mental illness.
