Demo is a little more artful.

First, run to the OT lab window and pester them and ask on general comms if they have anything for you. Make sure to do this no later than 10 minutes after roundstart. OTs love this. Bonus points if you do it and there isn’t even an OT.

Next is you need to commit some extremely minor technical offence near an MP, like sneezing and not covering your mouth or something, and get arrested for 30 minutes without ever being able to drop. You can choose to be released just as hijack is starting, missing all groundside action, or you can ragequit and cryo in the brig.

Foxtrot spec is also goated; if you don’t get it roundstart, play the second most favorite thing you can and if you die, you can probably get one more free spec roll (mid to highpop hours, of course)

You also get to CHOOSE what you will be!!! What is not to love!

Loot the GL who perma’d because the Pyro decided it was a good idea to flame their body

Serious answer is when I m79, I sink all my points into grenade packs; get the m79 (and any spare grenade packs) from req. If you go twice, you get the m79 and as much as they’ll give in grenades early to make sure you get the m79. Go once as late as you can possibly swing it once the line clears and ask for any leftovers, they’re usually more forgiving at that point and if the grenadier hasn’t picked up whatever’s left by then, they’re either a.) A sucker, or b.) Non-existant

When I play CT, I’d rather go bust giving out grenades completely before drop because I at least know people will be more likely to use them; plus they’re already circulating groundside by that point.

If grenadier really needs more, then I’ll buy a box when I know they need it and didn’t clown the frontline or get capped in 5 minutes

keep gambling… 99% of the rifleman quit before hitting specialist, as they said there is the option of the third or fourth slot on low pop or you could join as observe and pray for the Foxtrot spec roll, a method that don’t works anymore since foxtrot spec roll is a specific distress, back in the day i would roll for foxtrot and remove all ert choices besides for spec and i would get spec out 9 out of 10 times, good times.

There is a little trick to it.
You will obviously roll more on low pop.

But the game also rolls certain roles first, so if you have e.g Staff officer on low, you will nearly always roll it because its like the fifth or sixth role the game assigns.

So rolling spec successfully does to a degree come down to making sure you have no prefs selected that are higher on the list than spec.

For alot of people they have just simplified this to only roll spec. You can actually roll a fair few roles on medium without effecting your roll chance, but if you do not want to bother looking at the list, yeah. Only roll spec.

there are not tricks, when it comes to assigning roles the list of all ready up players get shuffled and then the assignment is by priorities, it first attempts to assign all HIGH priority preferences taking the one with the role on high who was not given a role in the shuffled list and then it goes to lower and lwoer prio iterating over all the roles (so there is relevant stuff for roles that you have on medium, as medium xeno is higer prio then medium ocmmand and that is more then marine)
