Please answer. I see the same 8 faces roll spec in a lot of rounds.
But even when I ready up as early as possible with spec on high and nothing else active, I never get spec.
It doesn’t matter how fast you press the “ready” button or whatever. Just set spec on “high” and pray, there’s nothing else you can do
300h spec here. I am like 90% theres a hidden spec roll modifiers
Don’t put any preference on non-spec roles. Pray. Pray. Pray.
the admins actually have a panel that lets them choose who the spec is from the people who hit ready. If you never roll it, it means they hate you
Hello, and welcome to the tutorial about the ‘automatic specialist selection system’, also known internally as ‘ASS’S’, a term that is also sometimes used by players after they are not selected for their specialist role. This tutorial will describe to you, the reader, the particulars surrounding the often-misunderstood system of the assignment of the specialist role to players of the niche video game, CM-SS13.
First, it is important to comprehend that assignment under the ASS’S system is completely arbitrary and random. Firstly, all players who select the ‘Specialist’ role as their ‘high’ choice will be competing with all other players who have set their ‘Specialist’ role as their high choice will be competing with all other players who have set their ‘Specialist’ role as their high choice. Players who have set their ‘Specialist’ role as their medium choice have willingly chosen to never receive a Specialist role.
Once the round has commenced, all players who have set their high choice role to the ‘Specialist’ will be picked at complete random by the ‘BYOND CODE BASE’, up to a maximum of four special players will receive their special role, everyone else will be made to play Corpsman in the vein hope of accruing some form of credit.
– Frequently Asked Questions –
Q: Why can’t the ASS’S system be reworked to be fairer? Such as accounting for when a player last played as a spec?
A: When you code it
Q: Is there not some kind of spec token system?
A: No.
Q: Doesn’t the PvE server have some kind of fair distribution system? Is that useable for us?
A: When you code it.
Q: [My answer was not posed here]
A: When you code it.
you can get spec more often by completing xenocord hit bounties for spec favours instead of xenocoins
i personally always pick the ones that involve an accidental primed hedp because it basically lets you perma your target by capping, and is also basically unenforcable by staff giving you plausible deniability
I’ve considered alternative distribution for the rolls but I came to the conclusion that the current true randomness is actually the most fair,
Giving you more spec rolls the more rounds you roll and don’t get it or something encourages players to nolife and grind and punishes casual “round after work” players
giving you more spec rolls the longer you’ve been without playing overall benefits casuals and fucks over the people who are really invested.
current system is about as fair as you’re gonna get imo
for context I ran a check on the current round going on, 19 out of 42 connected players have spec set to high, you’re competing with a sizable portion of the server for each roll. The people you see in spec most consistently probably just high roll it basically every roundstart even if they wouldn’t otherwise play so they effectively pull the slots lever more.
If you want guaranteed spec and are willing to nolife cringe for it, you can always just stay in lobby if you dont get spec on high, then check manifest so if there’s less than 4 specs you just fucking AFK like a loser and instant-click spec the second the slot opens up
Alternatively, you can play GL spec every round by just picking m79 (no joke, literally identical to GL spec)
So big pinch of salt but this is what I had written down from about a year ago about how rolling in general works.
At the round start all players that are readied up are shuffled into a list. this determines your “position” in the role priority.
It then rolls roles by order in the preference list, the first one being command, CO to be specific. It starts to roll co, going down the priority list from 1 to end looking for someone with a high preference. if that fails it does the same thing looking for a medium preference and then again with low.
Once CO is sorted it moves to the next role down, XO and repeats that till all command roles are filled and then goes to roll MP roles etc.
This effectively means, if you want to roll spec, but have other roles like SL or god forbid, SO on low or medium, these are rolled first and you won’t even be considered for spec if they’re not filled by people on high priority.
Roll order according to Kivts on the gameplay help part of the discord is Xeno >> Survivors of all kinds >> CO, XO, SO, ASO, IO, GP, Tank crew, DCC. MP, CL, QM, CE, CMO, CMP, synth, and warden >> everyone else (its also in the pinned messages of the gameplay help part of the discord)
Now somewhere I’m sure I read that the initial roll for the role priority also has an affinity for people that have both high and medium selected in their preference so the “best” chances to get a spec roll is to have it on high and something lower than it in the list on medium. I cant find the quote for this on the discord so massive mountain of salt until I can find it or remember who said it.
TLDR: roll Spec high and SG+comtech+medic+rifleman on medium for the best chance of spec.
Sit in lobby and wait for 3rd/4th spec slot to open depending on how lowpop it is
Pay the host 100.000 dollars or 1 mcdonalds happy meal.
Bea how about you stop grinding forum posts and hop on to play. i get spec everytime i want
Well, if you give me your credit card number, the date on the card and the small numbers on the back, I will totaly give you a spec token, and totally not use it to buy a spec token off @hry

hey man
spec rolls are actually an unspeakable sin orchestrated by the deepstate to conduct eldritch rituals with salt harvested from the masses.
I know, because… I was part of them. Now, I will tell you the extent of all my tragic failings…
