How to solve all balance issues

Hear me out. Here’s a a totally stu… I mean an absolutely brilliant idea I’ve been thinking about lately:

  1. Xenos are a bit too tanky for your average 'rine player to fight decently well.
  2. We can’t nerf their tankiness because they have to fight through those marine hordes and sometimes win.
  3. We cannot nerf the marines individually much, because that would make them even weaker at fighting those already tanky xenos.

With those 3 points in mind, here’s the idea:
What if on any human death there was a percentage chance for that human to go perma. Say we can start somewhere between 1% and 10%. This would create some more natural attrition in the USCM and give us some space to nerf the xenos to compensate.

In addition, this would make players actions more realistic, since there would be no more guaranteed suicide plays, if the medics are nearby. Also, just think about the amount of dchat salt this would generate!

Make it tied to how many times you’ve already been revived, and you might have something cooking that isn’t a shitpost.

nah I dont think we need an amount of lives in CM. Though the idea of having a chance to perma intrigued me and put me into thought.

Not true. The only reason I like WO somewhat is because it’s a good proof of concept demonstration that neither horde shooting nor cadehugging is very fun.

Was just thinking of something similar to “You start with a 0% chance to perma from getting downed, and get X% more every time you defib”. But it would just be a harsher way of doing what we are doing now, but it almost seems needed to get some actual health atrittion that you can’t just ignore.

The advantage of a flat percentage chance over a rising one is that every death has the same risk, as opposed to if we start with 0%, as a marine you’d know that you can unga safely until you die the first time, then maybe can gamble for one or two more deaths and then you can switch up to playing it safe.

I think we should also add in caloric content to all food items along with nutrition. Now if you don’t eat your vegetables during breakfast you suffer a 90% movement penalty. Also if you eat the tofu dinner your caloric intake is too low and after running around for a bit you just die and perma like what happened in tarkov back in 2022 after running out of energy.

If you die seven tiles or more from your squad leader, than for every 1 tile of distance from your SL, you gain a 2% chance to go perma on the spot.

If its the SL who dies? Well, let’s just say the Marines in the movie didn’t do too well after Apone was ‘incapacitated’.

Maybe instead of perma the same thing but with each defib the chance of heart break increases which needs a doctor so your likely to perma but not guaranteed

There was a suggestion to make marines defibbable only up to 5 times or so.

cm is 100% gambling but its not like you can gamble your way to victory
you gamble to not lose
