I fucking hate bald doctors and nurses. mfs can’t even be bothered to read the wiki on chemistry, half of the rounds you don’t even get UNGA cause they’re just so fucking stupid.
and also the stupid fucking doctors who takes 10 years to fix a chest frac like how fucking bad can you suck at this game? just add buttons for IA, UNGA, KD, MB on the chemistry machine and make it so surgery is a single step with a long do_after.

You guys think this is just some bait and a shitpost, but I’ve seen CMOs and silver medal doctors morgue a researcher for a soporific OD, and continually defib a weapon spec to heartbreak for a baking soda OD out of the kitchen, and a nurse that used almost all the -O blood bags on a single marine because they didn’t know how to fix IB, the chemistry line having one pill bottle of 9u of one of the chemicals IA is named after while everyone is asking to be field deployed.

We all start by being bad and I hope everyone here understands that, but the REAL problem is that new folks don’t ask for help. Like I can’t remember the last time I heard a PVT, Nurse, or even Doctor say “Hey I’m new around here, could you help me with X?”. In fact, we should add to the tutorial something like PRESS T TO TALK AND ASK FOR HELP or something like that

Honestly in my experience most of them do ask . You jsut Need doctors willing to teach wich is the problem slot of doctors don’t want to spend a round teaching someone. It’s why I spend loads of rounds teaching baldi nurses.

I’ve actively tried to help doctors but there is just something about the role that predisposes doctors (particularly - actually almost exclusively - shipside doctors) to being rude, lazy, and incompetent, and I’ve genuinely had to adminhelp/mentorhelp for either an SEA to come to medical or for admins to hopefully give a kick to doctors to actually treat people.
It’s not that all the shipside doctors are like that, but nearly all the rude, lazy, incompetent doctors play shipside.
It’s been a routine problem that I’ll come up to medbay, and find a medbay with no doctors in it. I’ll have to hack or destroy the doors to get into the treatment room to wait for treatment (I don’t know why that is even a thing, nobody EVER does triage in the lobby unless you are literally dead/flashing red hp bar), and then however I get there, I’ll stand around in the treatment area waiting 10+ minutes as the odd doctor runs in/out of the room doing whatever the hell it is they do, not bothering to actually try treating any marines who are mysteriously (what could they possibly be doing??) standing around in there.
You have to almost literally grab these doctors and scream in their face that you’ve got fractures or IB or whatever before they even start trying to treat you, and then they act like you’re the asshole for coming up to the medbay yelling at them to fix your organs and interfering with whatever they were doing instead. How rude of you to interrupt.
I’ve literally gone perma in medbay with doctors standing around me. I’ve come up in a stasis bag having been hugged only a minute ago, and burst in medbay because the doctors couldn’t be bothered.
Shipside medical is basically hoping a synth stayed shipside or one of the actual competent doctors decided to play today, and then that synth/doctor does EASILY 90%, if not 100%, of the actual work in medbay while the rest of them stand around flouride staring.
Of all the jobs in the game doctor and nurse have by far the worst player competence problem; even a bald flouride staring pfc can sort of click in the general direction of an alien. A doctor at that same level is completely useless.
I don’t think there’s really much of a solution. I don’t know what exactly causes so many doctors and nurses to be so useless (even antagonistic!), and I don’t remember it being this bad back when we had the old ultra-cramped medbay that forced everyone needing treatment into an area about the size of one operating room.
But it’s a definite consistent issue I’ve noticed for a year or more now and one of the contributing reasons I try to get any surgery done on the planet instead of the ship. These shipside doctors make a 5 minute surgery take 10+ minutes, on top of the 10 minutes you’ve spent just getting up there.

I can assure you that doctors were just as incompetent before they became officers.
