Wouldnt really call it stealing. They helped for that xeno spawn to exists, and are only elegibel for said one. The spawns that no ghost players contributed to, the one that exists without their infulence, should be untouched by them. In theory.
But a lot of huggers hug marines that are already capped and are just waiting transport to a hugger/hive. So that one doesnt really work.
But even if it where 100% a cap of their own work, it doesnt change that people still feel being ripped of by it.
As i said before, the concept isnt bad. If you help increase the ammount of xeno spawns, your position in line is better. You help the line move faster, you get to be further in the line.
Good idea in concept, but for that to properly work we would more so need to incentivise capping multipel marines, not just one. If you only cap one, the line doesnt really change, you just made your own xeno spawn and thats really it. Doesnt help the line to be faster, doesnt change anything really.
Worst of all, if you hug someone thats not even a guarenteed xeno spawn. Only a potential. There is a good chance that marine is just round removed for 20min going for shipside surgery.
Unless your RP as a mini carrier that is, and only chill around the front near Warriors and the like.
Generally the core idea isnt bad. It just needs a diffrent execution, or needs to be more expanded upon.
You don’t need cutting-the-line mechanics for this. If you were 20th in the queue and contributed a new cap to the hive, your position would be improved regardless of this mechanic. There is no need for additional reward. Actually, as it currently stands, capping as lesser is basically useless for your queue position (especially if huggers steal the hug), so… No, the concept is just terrible.
It’s either you have a working queue, or you have mechanics that get you free respawns right now. Having both just doesn’t work. Even if you tweaked the mechanic to “moving faster in the queue” instead of essentially “getting first place right now”, it still would be stealing from players who are doing what they are supposed to do in a queue.
Personally I enjoy playing proactive or patient hunter hugger. Unfortunately you get people who abuse any system. So not much you can do, but with the hugger system I have seen a huge reduction in ssd larva.
The only thing I can see in keeping queue priority is to encourage more participation and usage of huggers, however the whole hugging mechanic is super toxic especially when you got sweat huggers resting under a specific table doing nothing until someone walks buy. Most times the cap isn’t even moved to hive but they are recovered, and it becomes a huge time waste for the marine involved.
Huggers and lessers are jailbait tbh, it is impossible not to meta game due to you having perfect spectate vision and ability to spawn in at any time you want. Everyone that spawns in is guilty of this, it’s just that the admins ban the more egregious ones.
A) hug players who are already being tackle-spammed, and thus are guaranteed caps anyways (they make capping slightly faster)
B) hug random marines surrounded by other marines, thus all they do is increase the larva surgery queue rather than get caps (e.g. hugging medical patients)
I do agree with the fact that larvae are more active now though, since the mind numbing boredom that is waiting in queue patiently means you have a decent chance of just being AFK when it’s finally your turn (unless you are a dchat salter)
That problem should’ve honestly solved itself since you can just close the game after you join the queue, and you’ll still move up in the queue anyways (since it saves your spot), but we don’t live in a perfect world sadly.
If you want to just sit down, alt tab or just vibe while having the chance of becoming a xeno? The line exists for that.
Now, if you desire to actively help and join the xenos, and if successful get a tackle-spammed marine hugged? You got the best outcome for Xeno side and yourself.
(And if you wish to play but without all of that? Lesser drone.)
agreed, with the movie like. I kinda miss the mass huggers in that sense though too. The one enjoyable time when I was playing queen was Yelling “huggers rise!” while doing an IRL cackle and literally every egg and morpher had a hugger spawn at once to defend the hive with only 3 members in it.
First they came for watcher off-weed walking
Then they came for watcher working without being stationary at all
Now you want to come for the last compelling reason to play hugger at all for most people
