I’m tired of trying to be nice about this. I can’t resist the urge to not complain with these recent changes. This double burst pr has made the game way too easy when I play xeno, and I really really miss the challenge. Survs and smallhosts giving two larva is ludicrously stupid and makes xenos win if they cap survs. Doesn’t help that queen screech is still overpowered as sin and that runners can tackle drag marines away from any marine who can rescue them while they are stunned by queen screech within LESS THEN A SECOND. Make fun of me, go ahead. I’m doing this because I want this game to be fun for everyone, including me! Or at least most people. Sorry for the rant, but I hope one of the maintainers listens to my frustration. And I main crusher, I’m not a marine-only player. Just to be clear I am not upset at the maintainers, I am just angry about double burst. Be nice to the maintainers please.

Love u, genuinely; and i alwaysenjoy being on your team in-game, so this is not to say i’m reading your concerns as emotive or anything; you are usually a very warm person to interact with and i have nothing but positive experiences with you in-game (even when being OB’d)
When i get this way about game mechanics or directions, even if i want to pin the blame on changes in those areas in the moment, it’s always the precursor symptomatic sign that i am burning out on a server. usually you only slap that label on it retrospectively, but it helps to learn to listen to yourself in the moment about what you’re feeling. Frustration with not finding any fun in a thing you invested a lot of time in is something that I think no human being has a concise or resolute way to grapple with. I understand why you express it so much, even if i know we also jest a little about it. It’s hard. it doesnt make sense.
You don’t have to ruminate or wax poetic on it, and you also don’t have to lie to yourself. It’s enough to go “okay i’m tired of this now, i can come back later”. And then go. Be off. Do something that doesn’t make you question every time you engage with it “am i having fun?”. If you have to ask yourself that, the answer is No, and with all the hobbies in the world, there is certainly something else you can dive into and enjoy without ever second-guessing whether you like it or not.
PS you’re also allowed to pick up and drop and pick up again hobbies as needed, you by no means have to play CM for 8 years straight consistently, you can take 4 year breaks between dance lessons or explore what it’s like to go to the gym every day for 3 months and then go “okay that was interesting. on to the next thing.”
To the benefit of this server too, because it’s always in continual development, you can burn out now and leave disliking the state of the game and come back in 5 months and maybe every aspect you didn’t like is now fixed! I did that for here a few times and came back and stuff i had issues with before was resolved (namely performance issues). and it’s really nice to play like that in a revamped experience.
TLDR: take care of yourself, girl. you’re too good to feel like this over a hobby.

Ive been getting back into runescape and got a base 60’s free to play account that I will get into Members soon again. Might go do some mid level bossing with some people who also play CM and runescape soon.
Thats all I got as advice for you, Bea, since nothing will change. Trust me I was here when CM was close sourced and now when its open sourced, nothing has really changed development wise and things will go how they want to go. Unless you have friends in the developer circle or become a really good developer yourself and somehow get Maintainer status, the path the development process is going will continue as it is.
This is the bitter truth.

Take a break from CM… i mean i get i am a donkey that’s rather stubborn and opinionated but even i know to take a break to cool off.
I know its shocking but most changes tend to not feel so bad after let your brain rest and reset. eating the same thing day in and day out gets boring same thing goes for games. try something new or go back to a old favorite i for one am booting up Starsector again

Personally I’ve put CM down for now until the surv rework which I’ll try and either stick around for or drop CM again. With all the recent changes (or well I guess some aren’t TOO recent) the games no longer fun to actually play for me so I’m off elsewhere and just swing by and observe to keep in touch with people and maybe you should do the same. Swing by every now and then, observe some rounds to chat with friends but don’t get invested in the game especially while its in this current chaotic state.

Also, try playing shipside rolls, i find if i get burnt out from dying as a marine, i go MT and do dumb shit on the ship

As someone who constantly generates a salt mine level or sodium chloride on this game, let me tell you; this shit ain’t worth it.
Yes it’s annoying getting stunned, capped, having your weapon break; and yes I concur Queen screech is probably the most frustrating thing you go against as a marine.
I get you 100%, so please believe me when I tell you, “it’s just not worth getting mad over anymore.” Life is TOO SHORT to get pissed over a 2003 space pipe simulator game modified to be a movie from the 80s. God knows I’ve gotten pissed at this game too, and I too really need to just let it go and take a chill pill lol.
Say what you feel. It’s lot healthier to say what you mean and be done with it. If not the toxicity inside of you will just build up and you get more toxic to yourself anf others in-game. Don’t make many posts about it and please acid goop.
About the larva change. Meh. If it works, it stays. If it does not, It will go. Cm will have changes all the time, later on you will honestly be used to things like you view as a shit pr and simply take a break like most of us. Take care bea, i do love your rants tho, it amuse me somehow
