IFF to civilian responders?

Civilians visiting Almayer, should get IFF by default. It wont be a big deal since they don’t carry weapons at all anyway. Right now they are getting shredded by turrets and can’t really do much about it besides acquiring IFF, which depending on the context, can take a long time if they are engaged in a RP, unlike their armored colleagues, who can at least take a few hits before moving out of the line of fire.

This is because most civilians visiting Almayer still count as “ERT”, and even arrive on a ERT shuttle. Here are some examples:

  • Human rights observers (usually spawn in groups of two)
  • W-Y lawyer, the one CL can summon through a handled beacon
  • The pizza delivery boy…
  • And some others

Note that this doesn’t apply to visiting diplomats, like UPP representitives, executives and others, cause they usually have armed escort.

Here’s an example of why it’s needed. Just today a W-Y lawyer was participating in some interesting roleplay, but was forced out of it due to dropping almost dead before his client from the internal bleeding which he got from turrets earlier.

Because of that, the RP was postponed, and by the time that lawyer got treatment the round was already over.
Giving them IFF also wont negatively affect the game, because, again, they are literally unarmed and wont do much bad.

P.S. I seem to have forgotten to add. I don’t propose for ALL incoming civlians to have IFF. I personally only care for the W-Y lawyer. And I’m happy to see any suggestions on which roles should or should not recieve IFF.

I disagree, receiving IFF should be handled by CIC. It is part of the RP.

Should be handled in CIC 100%. Otherwise you make hoops if someone wants to do undercover CLF events or something similar.

No streamlining RP.

I sorta agree, would matter on the Character, a WY lawyer would more then likely have IFF in my opinion, but Human rights people, no, but thats just my personal opinion, though IFF is a occasional issue when CIC takes forever to do even acknowledge people are waiting for IFF cause they have their hands full managing the OP, but its a rarity, the common consensus is IFF should be handled in CiC regardless

in short, personally I think Civilians CALLED to the Alamyer, such as by the CL, would have IFF as they are preparing to board a battle ready USCM vessel for work, but people showing up for other reasons would need IFF, again, my personal opinion

common opinion, IFF should be done in CIC always

While I understand the others’ complaints about this affecting roleplay, doing this for like WY lawyer or the WY goon I personally believe would be good.
