The idea that a marine can beat a single t3 in a 1v1 is already laughable from a balance perspective.
But I will answer your question, I did it yesterday on Hybrisa with OT rockets while being very drunk as well.
And now we have PRs that are dogshit but also are an attempt to solve the issue, however half-assed it is. Besides this, the LZ rule was also a massive fucking skill issue on marine and command’s part, every time.
Not really “OP”, OP would be “Significant unfair bias”, a slight bias just means Xenos are slighly better but not really that Over powered.
Personally, that’s about how I feel is the case: That the game is pretty well balanced overall, but with some problem xeno castes that make particular matchups/situations very unfun and unfair to play out, which could easily be fixed.
Which makes sense given Xenos are meant to be smaller in numbers but make up for it in terms of strength against a marine 1 on 1 assuming the player is good.
This however, I completely disagree with.
If a 1vs3 is fun for both sides to play, then it’s unbiased. This was why I defined what sort of balance I meant in the OP. I wasn’t trying to ask, “1vs1 do xenos have an advantage?”, because obviously they do so why even hold a poll on that?
I want to know, regardless of particulars, does the game feels unbiased, 1vs1, 1vs3, whatever. Is it fun? Did you feel like you had a fair chance even though it was 1vs3?
I think if you ask more players in-game or elsewhere you’ll find them saying something very similar to what I said above, and reflective of this poll: Overall the balance is fine, but specific situations usually favoring xenos can get kind of ridiculous and could use fixing up.
So you were playing sadar, a spec class which is deliberately meant to be more powerful then standard, and you were also using OT rockets, which are also more powerful then standard rockets.
and these PR’s are just like ML and SOP, alternatives to stop mods from dealing with the issue.
Also if you think the LZ stuff is a skill issue then using mathematics for OB is also a skill issue in my opinion.
It was not allowed from a balance perspective. There would need to be a green dot, on which the OB would be fired. From a IC perspective, there is no GPS on this fucking planet and I doubt Almayer always stands in a geosynchronous orbit.
I totally forgot about this thread/poll and the results are interesting that’s for sure. In my opinion if you had 2 super computer AIs playing one another the marines would win every single round and it wouldn’t even be close no matter the population. Things like friendly fire, disregarding orders, bad orders, no communication or cohesion is generally what levels out the playing field to a more even level so the xenos have a chance to pick marines off and eventually push to victory.
The overall balance of the game is honestly impossible but in my opinion has been well balanced enough for a longer period of time than one would expect from such a complex and chaotic setting/server. Devs don’t get enough appreciation for maintaining things to a consistent enjoyable level tbh.
I’ve fought vamps post nerf and i’ve found them somewhat easy to scare off(if not able to be solo killed easily due to their survivabiity) with M39 extended mag. Presumably marines keep packing shotgun missing their buckshot shot and getting demolished.
