I just wanted to poll this right now to see the state of the game whilst the DDOS is occurring and there’s really nothing much else to do except to try to speculate from what I’m observing as a trend in the topics. I want to discern between if CM is fun, or if there are a lot of loud third parties.
Please put in an option for Yes - Both Sides and No - Both Sides as well as an Ambivalent option. I feel this would give a more accurate reflection!

Good suggestion, I did not think to add that as a third option, because I figure most people played one or the other. And, the poll won’t let me change it after the first five minutes.
For the sake of tallying though, I think it’s best players who find it hard pressed to pick a side (they play either) should choose the one they have more hours in, or feel they most feel honest about.

DDOS fucked player count hard but the game is still fun, else I wouldn’t be playing. It’s still relatively easy to frag out as marine if you know what you’re doing (if anything, easier now that theres more XX xenos to shoot), and as long as the round isnt a sub 30 minute stomp I’d count it as “fun enough”.

Weeee weeee i am both player. Brother you have playtimes that indicate if you are xeno main or marine main. Facts. Doesnt matter if you have 5k marine and 4 k xeno you still marine main
half of all players really don’t think the game they love is fun… that’s kinda crazy. I’m not on the forums of any game I don’t think is fun.
this game is sadly unfun until they hardcode and GUARANTEE MY SPEC ROLLS EVERY ROUND!!!

The game sucks really, the recent changes to the game have made it worse for sure. I came back with an open mind after a relatively long break and was really disappointed (usually, when I came back after a break, I would fall in love with the game again, until over time I got bored and annoyed). Maints are incredibly stubborn about every new problem they bring to the table (double burst) and also there is a glaring problem with feedback loop, so it’s not getting better in the nearest future.
What is the DDOS friends?

CM is turning into your average league match length (which made me actually open League after 3+ years of not playing league, send help) while introducing unfun balance and mechanics that don’t play very well in my opinion. Double Burst, incoming reworks like fob rework and such that just add artificial timers to the round for both sides, and you can’t do nothing but just sit and wait, multiZ on a top camera 2d game (yes i love getting lost in 200 different paths and staircases and having to constantly spam the “Look up” key because the game is not made for this, or try to find that one target across 3 different Z levels, it’s very fun and engaging gameplay), giving marines even stronger breaching resources (why?, even tho brute is fun to use, as someone who sometimes play builders.. yeah why, the breaching shotgun wasn’t that bad after all), removal or heavy nerf to cades and defensive options in the near future TM (i think most of the player base that dislike sieges, is often because of consequences from other balance issues, not the siege itself, such as Research stims getting in play)
I do also share a similar opinion to what @ihatethisengine said, about feedback and such. It feels like changes are being made with disregard of a lot of feedback, stubborn about the problems and balance, and just meme’d about any feedback given.
Surely the DDOS isn’t helping playerbase, but if anything, what’s making me want to play less the game are all this recent changes combined.
My opinion but the xenos are just getting more and more neglected its like british tank getting overhauled each update, a problem with xenos? Just slap in some nerf and number changes and done nothing new and fun
forums poll is going to be inherently biased because the forum has a relatively high % of burnt out neverplayers. if you wanted a better representation you’d need to use the ingame polls.
Slander, forums are for distinguished gentelmen, while discord is for noobs who never stood up for their value (npcs). We the forum dwellers are the real MCs!
Just throwing in my two cents here, I do think the game is fun! There’s aspects of it I don’t like or aspects I like that got removed (rip APC) but that’s the nature of an open source game. There’s always going to be things you don’t like and things you wish could be changed, and everybody else is thinking the same about different things is wrong and stupid and has no idea how to balance a game.
Maybe the real fun was the friends we made along the way…

And the problem with that is that a normal player can’t and admins or maintainers won’t host a poll.
You know, I’m pretty surprised by the results. Yeah, most of the players on the forums are burnt out, game no fun types, me included, but it seems “game fun” is at 57% in the votes. That’s like 2/3rds currently at 65 self reported votes.
So, maybe I’m wrong in assuming the game sucks. Then again, it’s a small pool. But bias should be in favor of game not being fun. Interesting.
