Is the red dot sight underpowered?

Just measuring the other commonly used stat buffing attachments, the red dot sight seems to be mostly worse than either the micro or reflex. Reflex has a slightly lesser wielded accuracy buff, but massively influential scatter and burst scatter reduction. Micro is very slightly worse but with no downside (and only for pistols). In what universe would you pick a RDS over either of these if they were both available? This is not even comparing the RDS to other utility attachments like magnetic harness and rail light, which are both invaluable.

I pick a red dot sight only when I am using a shotgun with slugs. As missing that stun on a woyer due to RNG accuracy can be the difference between your SL being dragged into depths of hell or getting off with only a light scratch.

Many attachments in general are just in a dogshit position balance wise right now, I believe there is a rework planned.

E.g. BFA being a shit pick that exists as a noobtrap, the mere existence of the recoil compensator, etc

Ah the conversation of “Is the 2010s buffs still relevant to the 2020s gun balance”. Like what do you expect from years of buffs and nerfs to guns that devs did without 2nd thought on how it interacted with attachies?

Nah

RDS to imporve accuracy, reflex to improve scatter

Put them on a weapon that needs whichever

Well, if you compare them side by side like in the picture it obviously looks weak, however, not placing the RDS on a gun that doesn’t have burst/scatter burst is a wrong choice, since the scatter decrease would be useless, and you get 5% more accuracy.

Basically, each attachment fulfills its role, even if they’re statistically worse.

Yea the attachments that go out of stock first from the vendors are the reflex sight, extended barrel, and angled grip. The reduction in scatter and burst scatter is way too good to pass up and I will always head to req to get a reflex if they are not available at the squad preps.

I honestly think the red dot sights should give more one-handed accuracy so that they can be relevant with gyro stabilized shotguns or pistols.

I use the Red dot sight on my Shotgun. Staple of my loadout for years.

Not true. Even single-shot guns like shotguns have scatter. It was much worse in the past and I complained about it, but vanilla slug shotgun could just shoot a projectile at an angle instead straight where you clicked.

Yes, this is why you also would attach a stock on a shotgun, to reduce scatter as much as possible. However, some guns like the M4RA, even though they have scatter in their stats, it’s virtually non-existent, and hence why it would be better to take an RDS instead of a reflex.

I intended to say both scatter and burst scatter in my previous post, however, I just noticed I only mentioned burst.

If the wiki is correct then stock decreases it by 3, vertical grip by 1 and then only reflex sight can completly remove it, unlike RDS.

Its just a fact
Red dot sights suck more then reflex sights this isnt exclusive to cm. Its just a type of reflex sight.

Rds is good on pistols bcus of low accuracy Altho i’d still prefer reflex sight tbh

BFA exists for the M16 and the M16 only

I’m gonna spill some beans. It works on the Type 23 with buckshot, making you deal 225 damage x3 in under a second in close range. Same with its slugs doing 90 x3 in medium range. VERY FUN TO USE in HvH.
