Synthetic Info:
Name of the Synth Character you wish to play:
Owain.
Provide a short description of your syntheticās backstory
Generation 1 Owains have been employed on Weyland-Yutani colonies for a number of years now; their popularity owed to their meticulous attention to detail, patience and empathy. Originally rolled out and advertised within hospice care services and end of life care, Owains quickly found that their capacity to listen and relate to their human employers unintentionally made them well suited to investigative work. Owing to a shift in the direction of marketing, the recent Generation 2 and 3 of Owains have found themselves purchased by the Colonial Marshals Bureau and most recently the USMC for field work.
Describe your synthās personality without mentioning their skills or previous professions
Meet Owain, patient, empathetic, nervous. Owains often struggle with delivering statements honestly, shifting the truth just enough to be more comfortable to those listening. Owains very often find themselves focused on blending in with their employers with a greater focus on attempting to document their stories and lives. This particular focus on folklore and culture has driven Owains towards being far more focused on listening and reacting rather than being the prime directors of conversation: social chameleons. In some cases, Owain units have seamlessly blended in their local communities and considered themselves a āpartā of that community, in other cases their focus on the tales and cultures of the communities they have attempted to integrate in have led them to come across as awkward, stilted and untrustworthy.
How would your synthetic interact with enlisted personnel, officers and civilians? How could you involve your personality into these interactions?
It is important to acknowledge that above all else, Owains are listeners that attempt to fit in with those around them. In positions where there are multiple types of people around, Owains will often default towards acting in adherence to the presence of officers, then enlisted, then civilians due to both authority, and armed status.
Enlisted: Enlisted are often young, fiery and emotional, with some most definitely more interested in being anywhere else than they are in that present moment. Owains would find themselves attempting to be more casual around them, maybe even cracking a few jokes to lighten the mood where necessary.
Officers: Unlike enlisted, officers are typically strict and formal, and it is important for Owain units to act accordingly. Respecting and understanding this authority is integral for Owain units to operate within environments including officers. This continues towards respect of individual place within a chain of command, rank and title and more.
Civilians: Owains act considerably more relaxed around civilians, often attempting to imitate behaviours that result in de-escalating hostilities and leaving the civilians in the vicinity relaxed. Typically these civilians will find themselves interviewed for details on their lives and stories, in adherence to directives and issued tasks given to Owain units.
Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?
As people might know by the roles I play, Iām a big support nerd and as far back as my old CO app have considered command to be a support role. Iām a big fan of helping other people even in ways that might end up with me being the side character in a more interesting story. Admittedly I had next to zero interest in synth originally primarily due to some negative interactions with synth players that I can elaborate on if needed. That ended up changing with the release of Alien Romulus last year which drove up enough interest to me to bring it up to Westrover, only for me to find out that synth was locked back then due to council purges. I ended up applying for CO instead of Synth and just didnāt really find much interest in making an app until a few months ago when I had a conversation with Lago about synths in general. As for why you should whitelist me? Well it would make me quite happy! ā¦Yeah that isnāt a good enough reason. Generally speaking I feel Iāve proven enough that I can hold back with stronger tools when asked and can follow whitelist standards in regards to CO.
What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?
To be perfectly honest, I donāt have very memorable interactions with synthetics. There are aspects of personalities that I enjoy, particularly with Dean and Dyer. I do have some very memorable rounds particularly interacting with synth survivor players such as Grace, Blair, Malcolm and Elizabeth. Finn as a CLF synthetic was an absolute terror, and I particularly enjoyed his way of acting bugged out, and malfunctioning. Unfortunately I canāt say I have very many memorable interactions with stationside synthetics, outside of being involved in cool situations - and trying to make up an answer to this question would be dishonest.
Synthetic Character Story:
Iāve got two stories here, one a little more serious and other a bit more silly (and frankly more accurate to how ingame conversations typically go) to fill in for the lack of dialogue in the more serious story. I think the former shows off the character personality well enough, where the latter is more showing speech patterns.
Skills:
How familiar are you in CMs support roles such as medical/engineering/requisitions/command and which of them are you more and less proficient in?
Fairly familiar, although I never really bother to experiment with some of the quirkier corpsmen loadouts, Iām very comfortable with my kits and such, my IA and FE; Iām a bit basic like that. I slugged out some time as doctor and field doctor although I admittedly find both roles incredibly boring. Regarding engineering work, Iāve built my fair share of FOBs and done an equal fair share of APC repair, frontline barricading, and so forth. Iām a big fan of requisitions and can easily manage a budget if needed, while keeping it fairly organised. As for command roles, you could say Iāve dabbled. Iād say despite the fact I have more combat technician hours than corpsmen hours, itās probably the one Iāve the least confidence in out of all of them purely because of the sheer amount of people with differing opinions on how barricades should be laid out. As far as Iām personally concerned, as long as youāre maximising exit/entry ways while maintaining open sightlines, the cadeline is fine.
What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.
Owain is securing the colony area on LV 624 to perform emergency surgery on a combat technician. A runner decides it wishes to attack and attempts to melt the barricades. Owain is permitted to set up the turret to secure the backline medical area, and if the runner persists, strike it from behind the barricade with its telescopic baton to encourage it to leave.
Owain is repairing the generators as requested by the Charlie Squad Leader, guarded by PVT Rifleman Baldo Greenman and Lance Corporal Gudat Fitan, a burrower has been repeatedly harassing the three. Owain is permitted to briefly chase and fight the burrower to force it to disengage from the group and heal so that they may continue their designated tasks. Once the burrower disengages, Owain must return to its previous task.
Owain is presently in north hangar maintenance onboard the Almayer after a marine hold in the hangar post-dropship hijack has collapsed. As it is alone, with no other allies in the vicinity, Owain is bound by Delta Alert guidelines. During this period until Owain discovers other groups of marines who have managed to survive the collapse of the hold, Owain may engage in combat to pacify hostiles where required in order to ensure its own self preservation.
Owain is in the CIC having aligned itself with command staff in the midst of an active mutiny. A group of marines blow through the back wall and move to open fire on the Captain. Owain may move in to (non lethally) detain the mutineers for handing off to active Military Police, or relevant deputised personnel.
Final Info:
Have you been banned in the last month?
No.
Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?
Iāll post playtimes below in a separate comment, as well as a general idea of how the character will look. No bright pink afros here, I promise.
