Yautja Character Story:

A group of Marines suddenly rush up and start shooting you. How do you respond?

It remains possible they believe me to be a Lurker or other xenomorph, So I would attempt to draw back while cloaked and out of range of their lights, utilizing predator emotes and voicelines to confirm to them that they are not seeking another bug to fight. If I can, and I have had time to set it up, I would also aim to draw them towards the prepared fighting area I’ve made out of the way of main marine lines and expected xeno paths. Following this, I would engage whoever remained with weapons.

Another Yautja hunted and killed a target you had marked. What do you do?

Depending on the circumstances, my reaction would range from mild derision and the request of an apology for the slaying of my own target for an accidental blow, to a challenge of making a suitable art piece for an intentional slaying of something I had specifically marked. Should the chosen challenge be denied and met with further hostilities, the only suitable course of action would be to declare an honor duel.

Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?

it’s a bit of a silly addition, but I believe I am one of the more recent Gunship Pilots to have killed a Yautja via high octane microwaving. On a more serious note, thank you for the opportunity to apply for such a wonderful storytelling position in a thrilling and enjoyable game.

I advise changing your name. It means the same thing in multiple languages

That is a great point! I will absolutely look into alternative, more suitable names and find one that works better. Thank you!

(probably) The best CAS pilot I’ve ever seen. You’re amazing to be around, I’ve had a blast playing against and with you as Xeno. As stated above, name needs to be worked on. I really liked your question answers, and the story was pretty epic.

+1 from me

i’ve seen them around, and any interactions i’ve had with rosa so far have been positive (apart from them incinerating me with lasers, many such cases). i’ve also played with them as a fellow youngblood and their pred rp is believable, and excellent. +1

Rosa’s roleplay is above and beyond the expectation of this whitelist. They’re mechanically decent, too, so I have faith they’ll rise to the challenge of Predator. Let 'em in already!

They messaged me prior to the app being posted and of course I allowed them to join. I wasn’t aware of their pred name mind you. With that aside, I like to give all my applicants questions to help everyone see how you’ll play.

These questions are not meant to trip you up and confuse you. They are here to help everyone determine how you’ll play. I am not looking for a perfect answer. But I am keeping an eye out for poor answers.

If you feel like a question is unfair and has no good answer, you are more then welcome to skip it and not answer it. You are not obligated to answer any of these questions I post. It’s entirely at your own decertation.

Question 1

How do you think actions are classified as good or bad spirit of the whitelist? Can you provide some of your own examples of good and bad spirit of the whitelist actions?

Question 2

You are growing flowers on the hunting grounds. Just as they are about to bloom, you return to the ship to gather water to finish the bunch of flowers and you come back down to the flowers being destroyed while a pred sarcastically states how unfortunate it is for such a thing to occur. How would you react to this transgression.

Question 3

You are hunting down a warrior on the main map and during the fight a drone begins to weed around you and place down stick resin. In the back, you see a carrier waiting on the outskirts of the fight (let’s say about 15 tiles). What do you think is the best course of action in this fight?

Again, answer these at your own digression. If you don’t like an answer you don’t have to answer it. I Good luck on your application and I hope that you’ll be accepted on your first time.

Ooh, I really enjoy all of these! And yeah, the name was a bit of a bungle that could have been avoided with some minor research. That out of the way, onto the answers!

  1. I believe the spirit of the whitelist to be all about making the round more engaging and fun for other players, while providing enhanced storytelling opportunities. Personal examples of things that I intend to do as a showing of good usage of the whitelist would be things like giving especially notable prey that has displayed its strength small trinkets, like the chitin coins that spawn near the ship’s garden. An example of poor spirit of the whitelist would be killing and then round removing a marine who stumbled across my garden on their own. While I’m allowed to do it as an antagonist and by the honor code itself, that doesn’t make the round more engaging for the marine I killed and is something I would avoid at all costs. (Not to say I wouldn’t kill the marine, but I would likely end up returning their body after adorning it with flowers where I could.)
  2. The destruction of the garden is sacrilege. Tantamount to the destruction of a shrine to the gods built by another predator. I would begin investigations as to whom or what force destroyed the garden. Should it be worthy prey, I would seek to hunt them down and make particular example of them, by taking a limb of some kind before returning them. Should it be unworthy prey, I do still want there to be some impact for the garden’s destruction, and would likely make some threatening or otherwise spooky message to them via the translator. I’m a firm believer that, at least partially, predators should be scary people to go up against! Finally, if it turns out another predator is the cause for this transgression, I would seek the reason why they destroyed it, before determining if there was sufficient cause to warrant its destruction. If there wasn’t, I would challenge the offending predator to a spar or otherwise non-lethal honor duel. I am intentionally hesitant to say the destruction would mandate a lethal honor duel, but if the predator in question is being particularly harsh and cruel regarding their actions in destroying the garden, I would likely end up declaring one.
  3. This one was particularly fun due to me rereading the prey caveats. The carrier isn’t actively engaging, and thus I don’t believe it qualifies as a hive offensive that makes the three offending aliens temporarily dishonorable. While I don’t know particularly well how the HPC works just yet, I believe its stun setting would work to hit the drone and throw it towards the carrier, while continuing to fight the warrior. If they continued to try and lead me towards the sticky resin while the carrier lingered and the drone kept weeding, it’s reasonable to see this as an attempt to capture me by the three of them and attempt to relocate the warrior via stunning HPC and dragging. I would likely choose an isolated area that still has normal weeds on it, to preserve the integrity and fairness of the fight. Of course, if more aliens gather or join in on trying to bring me to the sticky resin and carrier, this would swap to Hive Offensive rules, making them dishonorable and allowing me to use advanced weaponry on them. I’m not entirely sure what weapons I would use in such a case, as I have not seen them in action enough to know their effects or the damage they may cause. I can say with certainty that while I would not roll over and let the xenos gain significant advantage via abomination, I will always take care and measures to ensure I don’t ruin someone’s round by instant killing them with a weapon merely because the rules and codes allow me to.
