I am in the wrong in this situation. I will summarize the events that happened, as I remember them.
I was in another discord, a discord completely unrelated to Colonial Marines, in fact, it was a community server for a set of roleplaying games that I was in years ago. The person I targetted and killed was also in said discord.
I saw him ingame, and me and him are pretty good friends, so I thought playing a little prank on him would be funny. So I went up and gunned him down and said “whoops” or something along those lines. Eventually, he got mad and came back and tried to kill me, but he failed and I killed him instead.
Immediately upon this happening, I took a small screenshot of his dead corpse and sent it in said discord, pinged him, and said something along the lines of, “HAHHAA GET SHIT ON!!” I thought he would catch on and see I was just joking with him.
He reported me to the admin, took a screenshot of my little banter, and sent it to the admin ingame, which then messaged me.
I lied to the admin several times, and when he gave me the screenshot, I was blatantly in trouble.
I was banned to basically admitting that yeah, I did it.
Those were the events, an abridged version of course. Now onto my actual appeal…
I have spent the last 6 months thinking about the ban, and I realize, I did in fact break the rules. I would like to sincerely apologize to all parties involved, and I would like to promise the kind staff of this game, that I won’t do it again. I have been cleaning up my act since 6 months ago, and I have become more mature as a person, and as a player of the game. I will put it on oath that I won’t break the rules again.
Back then, I thought it was funny, but now I realize that it really wasn’t, and I shouldn’t be doing such things. I am a changed man, and I will show it in-game, if I am to be unbanned.
Thank you for your time. I miss playing the game sometimes and I sure do miss the interactions I had in the game, and the people that also play it. I cannot stress it enough, I am sorry for everything I have done wrong, and I am going to better myself even more than I already have. Thank you for your time, and I do thank you for reviewing this appeal.
I learnt that anything related to metacommunication is bad, and I won’t do it again. I also learnt that I shouldn’t be toxic sometimes and try to lie myself out of admin situations. In the time I have spent thinking about this ban, I believe in myself that I won’t do it again, and I make that a promise.
What will I do differently if I were to get unbanned?
Be the better person and just stay out of situations like these in the first place. I have quite the history of getting in trouble, both in game and in the discord, and I realize that stirring up stuff like this is not the best way of action, so I won’t do that. I’m just going to play the game like a normal person and also try to get my CO whitelist back, which I hope I do, because that is a goal for me on this game.

After discussion with my fellow colleagues and mulling over the fairest course of action considering your ban reason, we have come to a decision.
These are the terms under which we have decide to approve your appeal:
Permanent Ban Downgraded
Now a 2 Month Ban
Probation Period ⇒ 23 July 2024 until 23 October 2024
Any Rule 4, 6 Violations ⇒ Permanent Ban - No Appeal

Appeal Handler’s Notes:
Your Probation Period will start once your 2 month ban expires. While you wait for your ban period to run out, consider the course of action you will take once the ban period is over.
We did not make this decision lightly, and we do ask that you do not break the rules regardless of your probation status. We are giving you the benefit of the doubt here, that you will act in accordance with the rules once the ban period ends.
I will always encourage people to have fun with their friends, and strangers alike but ask that you do it in accordance with the rules, to avoid getting reported and any awkwardness that might follow. Frankly I find that most staff do their best to avoid issuing someone a ban, but we still have to follow escalation procedures to remain fair and just towards the community at large.
