Your character name:

Becket Tanner, in this context my name was lost due to me not having access to the logs for the shift but I was the PMC TML.

Their BYOND key:

mrsmiley316

What are you reporting?:

Enforcement Action Taken

Description of the incident:

Right so to start this is the third revision of this account, and its being turned in around two days later specifically because I wanted to give myself breathing room to write this out properly and let clearer heads prevail.

To start lets get some better context into the round, to start we were on a long op with marines and xenos slugging it out, nothing to crazy from any individual group, im in deadchat having cryoed due to IRL stuff and was muckin about until I see a royce call, sign up, get goon TML, and lock in for a good roleplay role.

Me and my squad get cohesive and make our way to research and request the sample, I do some strong arm rp against the CMP to keep them out of our business, print out a QRF report for the catalyst, and generally make sure were keeping the area secure. The scientist in this first encounter makes it quite clear they have intentionally hidden the sample and will not be giving it to us unless we meet there demands, not a case of it being lost confiscated or etc, a very clear declaration of subversion, they would give us a demand, get greenos authed with CIC to get the sample.

After this first roleplay encounter I have us rally in the CL’s office to discuss next steps, we come to the conclusion we have 3 ways forward -

  1. Direct violence against the researcher by capturing them and forcing them to give up the intel.

  2. Give in to the demands and attempt diplomacy, this was appealing notably because they were WY staff in a WY lab doing WY things.

  3. Turn the lab upside down and if that failed the entire ship to find the vial.

We would opt for option two and make our way to cic to request authorization for greenos with the support of the royce, the ACO would refuse this request and tell us it was our problem and that we should deal with it.

So we returned to the lab, and I opted to confirm the researcher was still holding out on that intel, and when I got that confirmation, I batoned them, cuffed them, took them to the cl’s office, and started an interrogation with support from the CL, and my fellow goons.
They would end up giving up the intel after I made it clear we would employ violence if they didn’t give up the intel, wall tossed them a few times, and cut them loose.

We would intend on making a cohesive, swift exit from the ship as a group, but the researcher would pursue us and begin shoving our group, we would respond by batoning them and the MP’s telling us to break it up, which would then end in the researcher firebombing the entire royce crew resulting in a mass cas, I would personally kill the researcher for this as my skin melted off my bones.

We would be revived “allbeit after multiple marines and the xo exaggerated that the goons were hostile and armed pvts running in guns blazing firing at corpses”, the mp’s would request a statement and, in the spirit of preventing a proper shoot out and roleplay standards, I would report to the brig with my squad, we would have a back and forth about what happened, and they would try to pin me with assault charges “which I was going to point out as they were WY staff actively breaching contract we were within our rights to question, shakey but servicable if the mp’s wanted to avoid escalating”, a 3rd mp that to my knowledge in ooc had deployed earlier in the operation and had come back shipside for some reason, ran in and attempted to arrest me telling me to not resist, when I stepped back they pulled out there disabler and threatened to shoot, naturally attempting to shoot the leader of a group of armed corpsec resulted in a massive shoot out that resulted in admin intervention.

In the midst of this shootout almost my entire squad would be permanently killed by random rfn’s, the corporate liaison would be killed as well despite not being a part of our group, and despite attempts to de-escalate it was clear that pepole were itching for a shoot out and there was no avoiding the violence. Despite this I would still end up stealing an id and running for north maintenance to take the path of least resistance out of the ship “taking after the evac mutiny rules of path of least force”

Unfortunately following this someone had sabotaged all the doors on our dropship preventing us from leaving, which resulted in yet another shoot out with more casualties and me and the remaining royce crew being permaed.

I feel the need to point out 3 things.

  1. according to other pepole I played that shift with they were not noted.

  2. the royce crew did not set out to instigate a firefight nor did we break escalation to my knowledge with the immediate exception of the stun weapon to lethal escalation in brig, which I would argue as a foreign body with no reason to see such an arrest attempt as anything other than violence, especially after having been brutally murdered moments prior, is not infact an improper escalation seeing as the mp was relying on OOC rulings to not face consequences for there arrest attempt. This is further backed up by the following shifts pregame ooc having them raving about how “every single ert member should be permanently banned for that shitshow” and how we were shitters.

  3. the note mentions blowing up a dropship, which to my knowledge never happened. How would one even blow up a dropship, they are invincible, goons do not get any kind of explosives, and my entire crew died in the brig or in engi outside of our shuttle which was sabotaged and unopenable.

  4. the note mentions that I was in violation of rule 2 for major shenanigans, this incident didn’t occur at roundstart, it occurred an hour and 40 minutes or so into the shift. It occurred entirely within the confines of the brig and the eastern engi docking port, and the only person who I would worry we negatively effected the shift of is the researcher, who themselves was doing an intentionally antagonistic RP, which I was trying to support by being a gruff, low paid, neroid sector wy security tml.

Evidence:

View shift logs, the existential occurances of the shift would require a truly ridicolous amount of logs to properly define, I also do not have the logs for my subordinates.

Edit : Changed a mistyped statement that said escalate to de-escalate

For the sake of saving someone for pulling logs, I did my own little bit of research and I will drop a some character names involved from what limited searching I did that took me around three hours total.

Key Character names for the round

Yumi Bates was your character as W-Y Corporate Security Lead

Fernanda Miller was the researcher that was kidnapped and suicide bombed the WY ERT in the hallway on upper midship. Presumably near the CLs office.

Benjamin Miller was the CL who ahelped the issue at the ERT shuttle near reactors

Ixo Luinter was the Chief MP that round

Private December Overstreet was a late-joining private who shot up some of the WY agents in the hallway while they were dead as state in k3ynan’s report.

To start this off, I would like to state that after researching what happened this round, I would like to apologize that nobody else was noted/banned since this was my first time dealing with a large scale event that was not authorized by anyone in staff. My goal was to finish the ahelp and get everyone onto the next game of CM since the round was lasting so long after hijack ended. But that isn’t an excuse for myself or my performance. And thank you for not making this report with anger or malice.

I’ve read through a lot of raw logs and regular logs and I can confirm that ,up until Chen tried to shoot k3ynan with a taser in the brig starting the shoot-out, everything that you stated appears to be true and is backed by the logs and raw logs I’ve read.

I did not research to confirm the following to paragraphs you posted before your 4 points since me doing this research is already taking three hours and I don’t want to delay an answer to you any longer then necessary since I know it sucks.

Yes, that is accurate. And it’s not because of laziness or me not wanted to note someone, it came from me not wanting to keep the round delayed for another 10 to 20m to figure out who all needed to be punished, I opted to reboot the round and to keep the server going. After looking through the logs, I’ve formed a new opinion over the situation as a whole.

I can also confirm that you did not break any escalation rules from what I saw. You were being cuffed twice by an MP Chen. After you stopped him from cuffing you out of nowhere, he tazed you and you shot at him. In the rules it state-

* Fists/General melee/MP tools
  * MP tools are not considered lethal weaponry. Unless a MP is shooting you, or using a baton on harm intent, you can’t respond lethally.

So you did not break escalation rules to my understanding. However I cannot prove what wasn’t put in logs.

The note I applied states
This lead to the dropship being blown up and caused a lot of chaos.
I never clarified but when I say dropship, I was referring to the ERT dropship near reactors on the lower deck of the almayer.
Looking through the logs the ERT dropship never blew up. I made an assumption (I shouldn’t have) on why so many had perished in the dropship and said it was a grenade since WY and the USCM shouldn’t be fighting.
However, the shuttle was sabotaged and welded shut to my knowledge.

The Note made no mention of major shenanigans in the sense of a rule break rather, it was my best way of saying, “you shouldn’t be disrupting the round in a major way.” I do understand that it was unclear since I did mention major shenanigans in the admin PMs and I did not intend for it to mislead you.
The full note is

Rule 2 - Roleplay | Was the a PMC goon investigator and kidnapped a researcher to get the chemicals. This lead to the dropship being blown up and caused a lot of chaos. Warned them that goons are not roles that are intended to cause any round disruption & WY wouldn’t kidnap a marine working for the USCM. They should not do this again.

I will state that It is my opinion that you shouldn’t be kidnapping researchers and interrogating them by beating them up and choking them just because they did not want to yield their research to you since that could make some players uncomfortable and/or angry. In addition, the logs state that it was you that stunned them with your baton and cuffed them. So that is why you were targeted.

As for the note itself. In it’s entirety, it’s inaccurate to what truly happened in that messed up and complex end of round.

I will admit that the “This lead to the dropship being blown up” part of the note should be null since nobody could even get on the ship. I do stand by the rest of the note that I posted though.

Found a piece of this round in my DVR folder, which unfortunately gets rudely cut off by the game just before things get *really *interesting.
