Morgana A.W Napalm
Accused BYOND key:
N/A
Accused character name:
William ‘Jester’ Crimson
What rule(s) were broken?:
execution without reason
Description of the incident:
he started saying some nonsense and I said that “they replaced our Commander with a monkey because he doesn’t even know what he’s talking about” he arrived and executed me, people tried to stop him and he called the Police, he demanded that I not go revived and said that I committed sedition, because I thought his idea was stupid and disclosed it to my superior, I was basically killed for giving my opinion to my superior
Deployed SO here. I was present during your BE. I talked to the CO about your BE and if I didn’t get the rounds mixed he told me you undermined his authority during briefing. I myself didn’t hear what you said but there was in fact reason for your execution.
edit: I just read what you said. Yes, that is in fact undermining authority. The BE was valid in this case.
I offended him and his idea, but I didn’t say I wasn’t going to do it (besides, I was an Alpha, it didn’t make sense for me to commit Insurdodination or Desetion if the order in it applies to me) what I did in front of the captain was just to offend which fits the law that I sent, and because he was a figure of greater power he could easily give me a huge penalty for offending his image in public…not to mention that he was threatening to execute sailors who were out of place in the brief showing that he is a lunatic dictator
Undermining authority means that you do or say things that would make marines lose faith and or trust in the commanding officer and potentially refuse to follow orders thus compromising the chain of command. Questioning them and their ability to make a solid plan or that “he doesn’t know what he’s talking about”, a major, supposedly having graduated officers academy is also undermining authority. According to the rules that is very much a valid reason to BE someone. As for that goober that he threatened, you can ask him but I think it was for disruptive behaviour rather than because he is a “lunatic dictator”.
I think you probably have a misunderstanding on why this occurred and some of the facts behind the situation.
I could completed the mechanical BE on you, but I did change my mind in medical, stating “fuck it” (after a brief incident with a marine I’ll get too later)before walking west to the DS and letting the doctors treat you. Nobody ran away with you. I only changed my mind once again when I boarded the dropship and saw you being treated in medical hanger (for some reason) and realised leaving you mechanically unBE’d or to be revived could cause issues OOC and ICly, so I told the doctors not to treat you.
The marines as a whole seemed to agree with the BE while you made (IIRC) multiple insults standing almost next to me about me insulting the plan, which I was having to do a visual demonstration with a squad. One marine interfered after you were whisked away to medical and I wrapped up briefing (disarmed me, then threw gun away), and he could have BE’ed the other lad for interfering with the BE, but it wasn’t required, the threat of a riot has passed.
I threatened another person as they were doing something extremely dumb/dangerous/LRP and then I directed MPs towards him and they warned him, I saw the reaction that got and realised it was gonna be one of “those” briefings, unless I got a handle of it.
You underminded the Commander of the vessel, and more importantly, the orders issued infront of the CO, in briefing, as he was giving them. While in a rather dystopian universe, on a ship full of conscripted conscripts in a round which was like a powderkeg.
I either risk the operation, risk a riot, or BE you. I still believe I made the right choice, I still felt a little bad for you hence my reconsideration of letting you get revived, but you did something silly at the wrong time, in the wrong place and you were made an example of.
I didn’t understand why you thought I was going to disobey you, because I was referring to an order given to team Charlie, I just said it to make fun of you, because since I was in the PFC it was my legal job to be a court jester (especially the Alpha ones who have a somewhat inflated ego) without causing greater chaos, I would understand your action if I were an FTL or SL because as I would be a high-power position on my team I would easily be able to undermine your image with my mockery but my SL would be more likely to tell me to shut up and force me to do 50 pushups or take 20 minutes in prison, I’m not angry with you, I just thought it was a bit forced that you killed a Recruit at the beginning of his career, being that you receive 10x more salary than me and have 200x more authority than me… you could easily destroy me without having to destroy your image in the process
This would make more sense if my character was more popular on the server like Kaith, among others who could easily use their personality and popularity to start a riot or create an anti-CO circle, but I was a nobody of the lowest level and I made fun of with the face of the CO who could easily arrest me for several minutes or humiliate me in front of everyone by forcing me to do 200 pushups otherwise I would spend the rest of my life in jail, act with extremely aggressive behavior by executing a person in public you He doesn’t gain respect and only increases the chances of a riot by showing himself to be a psychopath
While the BE was unnecessary, the Council believes the reasoning in the end was ultimately valid: the reporter had undermined the CO’s authority and was issuing threats that were overall due reason for the CO to issue one.
The problem the Council has here, though, is in the actual execution of the BE. The Council agrees that the method was botched. A BE, by nature, should be irreversible, and going back and forth to attempt to reverse it or deliberately leaving it unfinished is not proper procedure.
The reported party, Solidfury, will receive a warning for botched BE procedure. Report resolved.
Note that this warning only applies to this report in particular.
