Ban Appeals, Whitelist and Staff Applications:
lel_stinvals - Job/Role Ban Appeal | Banned from Combat Correspondent - Disconnecting without going into cryo or informing staff as a limited role. | Accepeted.
Have you been banned in the last 3 months?
Only recieved a single job ban.
If so, why?
As stated above, a Combat Correspondent job ban. Disconnected in the office at about 50 minutes into the round after writing papers. The ban was lifted.
Have you read the role guidelines and expectations?
Yes, I have.
Why do you wish to become a Fax Responder?
Several reasons. I often feel a lack of responders in the rounds. I figured that if I want for it to change, I would rather begin with myself.
The other reason is that often when I couln’t get a roll for my favourite roles (Corporate Liaison, Combat Correspondent) I still wish to play the round an engage in roleplay opportunities these roles provide. The fax responder is a very good way to help with that.
Lastly, I like doing paperwork. This is probably the reason I play the CL so much. Great RP and a way to fill out different forms and write neatly looking fax messages, death reports, etc. Even if no one besides ghosts will see them.
What do you consider the purpose of this role?
I see the responder’s role as someone who expands players interactions, and brings more atmosphere into the round.
Officers insulting Executive unwarranted? Prisoner making an appeal? Combat Correpondent sending photos and articles to the news agency? Fax responders make sure that these interactions don’t stop just there and help players to connect with the outside world of Almayer, thus making it feel more lived in, and making players care more for the interactions they have in return. They don’t have a direct way to influence the round, and for a good reason. That’s what the staff is for.
Lastly, as already stated, fax responders being present in a round add a lot of atmosphere. Mostly to the observers too. It helps them to get a hold of the current sutiations without actually following them, in a clean format, which is always nice.
When would you consider it appropriate to use your phone?
Normally? Never. I only see it used in two situations:
A. Calling other fax responders.
B. Calling an evacuated CL/PMC team on a W-Y station.
And both of these only apply when the round is about to end (Hijack for example) and it’s time-sensitive.
If playing WY Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CL?
- Retrieving W-Y bodies and getting an autopsy of them. With photos and all.
- Interviewing surviors. Three to four questions of “What happened?”, “How”, “When”, etc.
- Recovering a colony truck/van and getting it on the Almayer.
- Briefly getting down to the AO to “Assess salvageable assets”.
- Inspect onboard T-comms equipment.
These and some other objectives should be given depending on the sitation in the round. The fast-paced dynamic nature of CM13 doesn’t always allow for smooth RP. There is no point in asking CL to get groundside if the FOB is under siege, for example, or if there is no transport to retrieve available near the landing zone. Fax reponder needs to use his map & game knowledge.
Again, something that promotes interaction: with IO’s, medical, marines, working joes. I wold use my Corporate Liaison playing experience to make CLs do something what’s doable, but is at least a bit challenging, knowing that it can be accomplished.
Getting command to sign NDAs may or may not also be asked of a CL. Still, judging from my experience, it’s not very engaging and doesn’t always work out well as an interaction. Most importantly, I see it as a fax responder being lazy giving out such objective. Again, it can be fun for CL to gather NDAs, but I would rather prefer divercity in the misisons they recieve.
And something riskier, like getting an alien egg, is even more context sensitive. Anything heavier than that requires an ahelp and is only relegated to events.
If playing Press Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CC?
Contrary to the W-Y, I wouldn’t tax the Combat Correspondent with tasks much.
I would ask them to not die (Because it seems like most CCs immediately die on the 40-50 minute of the round), to take photos of marines with specific gear. Get Them to pose with a shotgun or ask Bravo to stand together in a group for a photo. Or even make a photograph of a field doctor doing an operation at FOB, or some bodies.
As stated above, pushing for interaction and something that makes places like FOB and forts more lived in. Maybe even some gimmicks too, like asking them to advertise specific products to marines.
